Acoustic Trauma — 1 Year Later — Even After Many Setbacks, It Gets Better

I wanted to make a post since it's been an entire year of living with moderate hyperacusis & tinnitus and I feel I may be able to give some hope to people. If you have recently been afflicted with this horrifying condition I just want you to know that it becomes easier to deal with as long as...

Has Anyone Here Had 3D Scanned Ear Impressions? If So, Would You Please Share Your Experience?

@orbiter12 Ah. That's a bit of a letdown :( . Guess I'll have to muster up some courage and go get the mold ones done. Thanks buddy.

@Contrast The difference between custom plugs & regular foam ones is they are more comfortable and can be removed/inserted with ease. Also foam plugs have to be inserted pretty deep to be 100% effective and that's kinda sketchy cause if you misjudge the distance you can touch your eardrum.

Has Anyone Here Had 3D Scanned Ear Impressions? If So, Would You Please Share Your Experience?

Thanks so much for the responses guys. I'm mostly seeking people who've done the 3D scan impressions as opposed to the mold injected but I still appreciate it. If you know anyone who has done the ear scan please direct them here as there is very little info in the way of firsthand experiences.

Has Anyone Here Had 3D Scanned Ear Impressions? If So, Would You Please Share Your Experience?

Custom plugs would be an absolute life-saver but I'm too scared to get impressions via mold injection. I'd be so happy if anyone who's had the scanning done could answer a couple questions and/or share their experience. 1. How loud was the procedure? 2. Were there any issues in terms of...

Here Again — Ear Fullness After a Pan Dropped Yesterday

I agree with jjflyman. Wait a few days before you panic. I have had pretty extreme fullness following a loud noise but the most it has lasted was around 5 days before slowly returning to the "normal" level of fullness I have all the time. However, if within 1-2 days your hearing becomes muffled...

What Would You Have Rather Gotten Other Than Tinnitus or Hyperacusis?

@Dubbyaman Sorry to hear that you are wheelchair bound, man. Hope you are doing well. Personally I would probably trade anything besides my eyesight & arms/hands to take away the ear problems.

Poll: Has Your Tinnitus Increased Over Time?

Before the trauma it was a single 1//10 volume tone in my right ear, for a few months or so after the trauma it was 5-9/10 fire alarm/morse code/squealing balloon sounds simultaneously in both ears, and now it's become this psychotic symphony of rapidly fluctuating tones playing underneath...

    Dentist without the Ultrasonic Scaler?

@Karl28 Just tell them your concerns and they will use the manual scaler. It takes them a little longer but it should be no big deal. Hope it goes well!

Poll: Was the Advice You Got on Tinnitus Talk More Useful Than Your ENT's Advice?

It's funny, I can't actually recall my ENT giving me any advice. All they did was listen to a fraction of what I had to say, schedule me for some dangerous unnecessary test, and then hurry me out for the next patient. Rinse and repeat. It's been over 6 months and we still haven't got to the...

    Sleeping Pills Advice?

Benadryl does the trick for me when anxiety is keeping me up. I refuse to take the prescription stuff due to the side effects. 1 mg melatonin at the same time every night also helps tremendously.

    Soundproofing Homes

@JonL Hi. Could you gIve a bit more info on the isolé? Do you use it over a window? And do you think it would help reduce the sounds of motorcycles/work vehicles/car alarms 15ft from my window? Thanks.

Sleeping, Lying Down and Tinnitus Volume

I started sleeping on my back after my acoustic trauma and have had no issues with T changing while lying down. Just thought I'd throw that in.

Tinnitus with Ear Pressure and Pain

@Heather43 I have a couple tips for ya. Make sure you use purified water and then pour it in a bowl after you get it boiling. Then let it cool a bit before you breathe it or you can burn your lungs. Also draping a towel over your head while breathing the steam makes it more effective.

    Finding It Hard to Cope

@astaff14 So sorry to hear about what you're going through. I can relate 100%. Just know that time heals all wounds. I'm 6 months into mild/moderate T & H and while I still have bad days, I'm much better equipped to deal with the anxiety and setbacks now as opposed to earlier on. For me it's all...
