I feel you. Hang on in there. I've been going through this too. Do you also get nauseous from the sound+pain combination sometimes? I was wondering if other people experience this too.
Update: the rapid 'ticking' multiple times per second lasted about an hour, after which it started to break up into bigger intervals. Multiple ticks every 5 seconds, every 10 seconds, every minute, every 2 minutes, etc. Faded away completely about 12 hours later.
