Can Singing Aggravate or Cause Further Damage to Inner Ear Hair Cells?

This is a question as opposed to an answer to your question (sorry). Did your tinnitus completely go away when you say you habituated? Or was it at a really low volume which didn't bother you for 10 years? And now it's (unfortunately) at a high level again? Best of Luck on your recovery!

7th Week with This Monster Tinnitus! Acoustic Trauma from a 1-2 Second LOUD Sound?

Agreed 100%. That's why I've been hesitant to try anything. Surgery can have complications also. I've read people having some success with hearing aids, there was also a small study in 2011 showing improvement. It's definitely not everybody. I probably will try hearing aids even if it's just to...

7th Week with This Monster Tinnitus! Acoustic Trauma from a 1-2 Second LOUD Sound?

So, my ENT and audiologist have said I could try hearing aids. I have not gone back to them since 1st month (after multiple appointments). I thought I would let things kind of calm down before trying anything, as the recommendation per many on this site. Also. I do not know how hearing aids...

7th Week with This Monster Tinnitus! Acoustic Trauma from a 1-2 Second LOUD Sound?

So, the 1st month I had tinnitus levels of 7-8, one day it reached 9-10. So, it definitely has improved since 1st month. I also had hyperacusis from speaker at grocery stores and distorted sounds from high pitched frequencies. The tinnitus level has gone down, the hyperacusis has improved (I no...

7th Week with This Monster Tinnitus! Acoustic Trauma from a 1-2 Second LOUD Sound?

So, I've had tinnitus and hyperacusis since May 30, 2020 (George Floyd Riots) weekend. Hyperacusis has improved but is still present especially with letter "S" sounds. Tinnitus ranges from 1-2 to 3-5, varies daily. When it's 4-5 it does bother me. I would say I have more 1-2 days than 4-5...

How Do You Cope with Tinnitus and Hyperacusis While Living in a Loud City?

I live in Los Angeles. Basically the same story as you with all the exposure to city sounds living in an apartment. I have multiple ear defenders around apartment and in my car and wear them with passing sirens. I always carry earplugs and even use it in some grocery stores. There's not much...

Should I Try Hearing Aids Two Months After the Onset of Tinnitus and Hyperacusis?

Hello all, I've had tinnitus and hyperacusis for 2 months, unilateral, in one ear. This ear also has significant hearing loss due to ETD (chronic) and perforated ear drum (4 years ago). I believe my tinnitus began as a noise induced trauma from earbuds. I also had a large piece of wax removed...

Constant Fight to Prevent Worsening of Tinnitus and Hyperacusis Is Worthless

I'm new to tinnitus and hyperacusis (8 weeks in). I live in Los Angeles (talk about a noisy city). This past week I had to wait in line outside 2 of my favorite bakery/dessert places. Because of social distancing they only let a few customers into store at a time. A car with a super loud engine...
