University of Minnesota Tinnitus Research with Acoustic and Body Stimulation

What does it mean that I’m “reaching”? Do you mean that I’m exaggerating? If you think I’m exaggerating, I invite you to read @kelpiemsp’s profile. He wrote this himself in 2019: “I am currently experiencing silence for the 1st time in 31 years. No wonder people are so upset. What a strange...

University of Minnesota Tinnitus Research with Acoustic and Body Stimulation

I remember @kelpiemsp, the “fortunate” person who experienced silence for the first time in 31 years after trying the University of Minnesota device. It is incredibly frustrating to know that a device capable of silencing tinnitus is sitting unused on a university shelf. Dr. Hubert Lim is...

I don't know him but he might have gotten better and never returned. :dunno: You can habituate extremelly quickly to mild tinnitus.

Suicidal Two Months After Tinnitus Onset from a Child's Scream

Hi @Annina, Sorry to hear about what you’re going through. Two months is really not a long time. Your situation may very well improve in the coming months if you continue to protect your ears when needed. It is important never to expose yourself to loud noise again once you have tinnitus...

Am I the Unluckiest Person on Earth When It Comes to Tinnitus? My 6-Year Tinnitus Nightmare: How One Festival Changed My Life

@trevl, again, what you say sounds very convincing and rational (and I really appreciate you taking the time to share your knowledge on the subject), but there isn’t a single ounce of positivity in it, and that’s what I need most right now, being at rock bottom emotionally. :( What you wrote...

Am I the Unluckiest Person on Earth When It Comes to Tinnitus? My 6-Year Tinnitus Nightmare: How One Festival Changed My Life

@lostb1t, I don’t know if Quetiapine is specifically meant to help you calm down, but according to my psychiatrist and many members of Tinnitus Talk, it’s primarily used to help with sleep. Personally, I don’t notice any difference when I take Quetiapine for sleep, so I’ve stopped using it...

Mirtazapine (Remeron) vs. Trazodone — Which is Gentler for Tinnitus?

Hi @ErnieRo, I have been taking Mirtazapine for more than four years now, and I have never stopped it. It did not make my tinnitus worse, and I have not experienced any side effects. I have taken it at the maximum dose of 45 mg, but I am currently down to 15 mg. This drug actually works...

Maria's Hyperacusis & Tinnitus Success Story

I can confirm that tinnitus can improve, but only if you give up your social life completely. Two years ago, I felt almost cured after four years without any exposure to music. Unfortunately, after resuming a social life and exposing myself to music again, my tinnitus became extremely...

Am I the Unluckiest Person on Earth When It Comes to Tinnitus? My 6-Year Tinnitus Nightmare: How One Festival Changed My Life

Hi @virginiadoc, it is disheartening to read that even a psychiatrist cannot find a solution to relieve the pain. It almost makes me wonder, what is the point of continuing to see my psychiatrist if he cannot help me anyway? I don't have any other health problems in my life except tinnitus and...

Am I the Unluckiest Person on Earth When It Comes to Tinnitus? My 6-Year Tinnitus Nightmare: How One Festival Changed My Life

Among all the therapies I have tried, there were sophrology, hypnosis, and cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia. None of them helped. I am considering trying cognitive behavioral therapy specifically for tinnitus, or possibly EMDR. I am not sure yet.

Significant Tinnitus Relief Using Vicks VapoInhaler and VapoRub

Glad to hear you found something that helps. Obviously, this is very unlikely to work for noise-induced tinnitus. How long does the reduction in ringing last?

Am I the Unluckiest Person on Earth When It Comes to Tinnitus? My 6-Year Tinnitus Nightmare: How One Festival Changed My Life

@trevl, I already read the threads you mentioned, and I understood the lesson. I will never, ever go to any bar, pub, club, or party again. As I said in my first message, I now only leave my apartment to go to work, to go to the gym, and to do my shopping. That is all. I have accepted that my...

Same for me, same for nearly all of us here :( Two years ago I started living almost normally, going to bars and clubs, as I felt better. But now I'm living a nightmare... Tinnitus increased because of that. I have sleepless nights every nights. This conditions always reminds you that your...

Am I the Unluckiest Person on Earth When It Comes to Tinnitus? My 6-Year Tinnitus Nightmare: How One Festival Changed My Life

You may be right about that. I’ve already come across this theory on Tinnitus Talk. It’s neither reassuring nor optimistic to read, because it makes you realize how fragile and damaged our ears really are, and how easily their condition can deteriorate again. I always wonder, how on earth do...

Am I the Unluckiest Person on Earth When It Comes to Tinnitus? My 6-Year Tinnitus Nightmare: How One Festival Changed My Life

Hi @trevl, it seems there are no drugs on the market that have the potential to reduce tinnitus volume, except Clonazepam, if I am not mistaken. I was prescribed this drug a long time ago, but I do not take it. It does not have a good reputation. Currently, I am taking Mirtazapine (between 15...
