Sea Pharmaceuticals — Oral Neurotherapeutics for Tinnitus, Epilepsy, and ALS

Wow, wow, wow! It’s a pleasure to read articles like this. It gives us a bit of hope when we’re really at rock bottom. Thanks for sharing. I hope we learn more about these findings soon.

New University of Michigan Tinnitus Discovery — Signal Timing

Anyway, @Markku previously mentioned that the timelines discussed here on Tinnitus Talk for the potential launch of Susan Shore’s device are unrealistic. I don’t think the device will be available on the market before 2030, and it likely won’t be accessible outside the United States before...

45 mg of Mirtazapine Doesn't Help Me Sleep — Need Advice for My Disabling Tinnitus

I wasn’t aware of Ashwagandha. Thanks for the recommendation! I’ll ask my psychiatrist if there are any interactions with Mirtazapine. Many tinnitus sufferers on Tinnitus Talk have also recommended Trazodone for sleep. Unfortunately, it has not been sold in France since 1996.

Commercial Lidocaine Patch as a Treatment for Ear-ringing

I don’t want to alarm anyone, but I was curious about Lidocaine as a potential treatment, so I read this study on transdermal Lidocaine for chronic subjective tinnitus. I’ll admit I didn’t read it thoroughly, but according to the study, lidocaine administration might actually worsen tinnitus...

Electrical Stimulation of the Cochlea for Treatment of Chronic Disabling Tinnitus

Given that we recently learned that Dr. Shore's device won't be on the market for years, the new hype seems to be focused on this subject. Seriously, guys, are you really ready to have a device implanted in your ears to alleviate tinnitus? Honestly, it would freak me out. I'm more interested...

    Sound Pharmaceuticals (SPI-5557 & SPI-1005)

With all respect, personally, and even though your opinion might be rational, I think we should stop spreading negativity on Tinnitus Talk. Even the sponsor of this drug (if I understood it correctly) said that it might help noise-induced tinnitus. So maybe it will work for chronic...

Unbearable Tinnitus Spike: I Feel My Mental Health Is Deteriorating

I heard about Quviviq a long time ago. It is finally available in France. I was thinking about giving it a try. I'm sorry it did not work as expected for you. I'm kind of reluctant to try it, though. As it is a very new treatment, we don't know what side effects could occur in long-term use...

Unbearable Tinnitus Spike: I Feel My Mental Health Is Deteriorating

Hi Wassim, I can't believe how similar our situations are! I also have severe tinnitus (and hyperacusis) after experiencing a noise trauma at a music festival in 2019, despite wearing custom-made hearing protection. Like you, I've suffered a lot for years - lack of sleep, no social life...

NeuroVR Device: Neurofeedback to Treat Tinnitus

Hi folks! I come with (bad) news, unfortunately. Some years ago, in this thread, I talked about virtual reality as a treatment for tinnitus, as proposed by the Georges Pompidou Hospital in Paris. It turns out that Dr. Londero didn't offer me to take part in the test protocol. However, I came...

Auditory Mirror Therapy for Treatment of Tinnitus

Is this device really promising? Why are there only four pages of discussion since 2022, as opposed to Susan Shore's device thread, which has over 200? Is it because this device doesn't really reduce the intensity of tinnitus, but rather the symptoms associated with it? In any case, it's good...

Hi @Yosemite ! Thank you for your message. I reduced the Mirtazapine at the beginning of January 2024 (I went from 22.5 mg to 15 mg). My condition was "stable" until early March. I take 22.5 mg of mirtazapine every night to help me sleep. Up until 1 year ago I was taking the maximum dose (45 mg). Tinnitus can really improve, but it can take a long time (it took me almost 5 years). Stay strong, I'm sure it will get better one day. And don't hang around this forum too...

As we say in French, "hope is life". We have a damn incurable disease. So every potential treatment gives us hope, even if we're not sure it will work. It's always better than hearing the perpetual "there's nothing you can do, get used to it" from doctors. Whenever I'm not feeling well, like...
