Can Tinnitus Be Cured? What Is Going to End Up Being the Cure?

True, a lot can happen in 5 to 10 years. If a drug is available to the public in that time frame then good. There is still so much that is not understood about the ear and the brain. I think the biggest challenge for any pharmaceutical companies will be side effects. Mental health Issuses and...

Can Tinnitus Be Cured? What Is Going to End Up Being the Cure?

My honest opinion is, don't hold your breath for a "cure". There are many management tools out there now to help people cope with t until they habituate. I don't believe we will see a "cure" for t in my lifetime(I'm in my mid 40's). There is hope though. Read the success stories.

    Sound Therapy International?

I have tried Sound Therapy International. Paid the money. My Tinnitus went through the roof. It might work for the other benefits it's touted for, but for me, no. Waste of money.

Those Who Have Had Tinnitus for at Least 1 Year: Does It Get Better at What % Rate?

Do you use masking devices? I didn't really mask my t. Only when I felt like I was going over the edge. Sometimes in the early days I would sit in the shower for about an hour just to get some peace. Doing things that you enjoy, like when you are with your horse is a good way to help...

Those Who Have Had Tinnitus for at Least 1 Year: Does It Get Better at What % Rate?

I know if someone is new to tinnitus it is hard to believe that things will get better, but they do eventually. For some it takes longer.

Those Who Have Had Tinnitus for at Least 1 Year: Does It Get Better at What % Rate?

Umm, well, it is hard to mask. Normal white noise like a fan or air conditioner doesn't even come close to masking it. When I'm in the shower it is masked. When the cicadas are in full song at our place it is masked. Because I'm habituated I'm not always trying to anylize it or monitor it. I...

Those Who Have Had Tinnitus for at Least 1 Year: Does It Get Better at What % Rate?

Good question. I'm just past my 12 month mark, and can say my tinnitus is actualy louder(or that is my perception). Does it worry me? No. I habituated after 3 months. Do I wish to hear silence again? Ummm, I have forgotten what that is like. I think if my t disappeared completely overnight, that...

Can Tinnitus Be Cured? What Is Going to End Up Being the Cure?

Tinnitus is very complex as we all know. I don't want to burst anyone's bubble, but there is no cure. The brain is heavily involved, and in the scheme of things little is known about our brain. My personal opinion is we are decades away from getting close to a "cure". Do not despair though...

If Your Tinnitus Was Softer, Could You Manage Better?

In my case the volume is probably a bit louder than in the beginning. Habituation is the key. Once that is achieved the volume has less relevance.

    Losing It After a While

The reason why the "Authorities" focus on lung cancer is because of the high morlality rate involved. Aside from the odd suicide tinnitus doesn't get the attention it should, simply because it is not killing people. Yes a lot more needs to be done in making people aware of this dreaded...

    Silence Is Gone in Sweden

Hi Nick the Swede. Sorry to hear about your affliction. There is some really good advice here. I personally could not listen to white noise as I found it almost as worse as t itself. The first 6 weeks of t I could not even watch TV. It was too irritating on my ears and nerves. I believe you will...

Does Your Tinnitus Make It Hard for You to Hear Things?

I have intrusive and constant t and I believe I have habituated. I don't feel it has inhibited the way I hear, I do however have some hearing lose in my left ear, I do believe that has made hearing some sounds harder to hear. Just my personal experience.
