A PLATE ARE YOU KIDDING ME, A DAMN PLATE

How do you feel about taking some anti-anxiety meds short-term just to help you relax enough to habituate again? You've battled this lots longer than I have been but from what I understand if we don't get anxious about the noise then the brain stops paying attention to it. But you are too upset to be able to do that. You must be going crazy with this double whammy out of the blue.

A plate fell while I was in the kitchen and that's what caused it, I don't know how much more of this I can take.
I work in a fast paced food service for an insurance company and people are constantly dropping pans left and right..and throwing things in the sink all roughly and nothing makes me more mad cause its prettty quiet suprisingly when people arent acting like kingkong and junglemen...lol

Are these spikes permanent? Hope not. For me, all sharp high sounds sometimes spike the T, but only for those short durations. Plates, cups, closing some caps etc. This is annoying, but not harmful. I remind myself about this. :)

You're really unlucky :( i've been to a greek restaurant and the owner started to throw the plates on the floor(greek tradition), one felt very close to my right ear, had no effect on my T.

Willie,

What Isabella says is right. Your reaction is the problem, as soon as you realize that the quicker you will get better.
I don't know about meds that will be for your dr to prescribe. Stay positive, don't give up hope you will get better!
Your ears and nervous system are trying to heal, stay away from stressful situations and loud noises.

sorry to hear that. I've discovered, just through work, music, and stuff getting banged around or dropped loudly ( I do have a kid,LOL!) that none of it has made my T. better or worse.

the same thing happens to me, i have to be super careful, but always there is accidental falling of stuff that makes a clanging sound. i've been working on cleaning up my messy house today, and occasional things do fall and right now my tinnitus is pretty bad. i have pretty well given up having a normal life.
