Speakers for Those with Digital Audio Sensitivity

"What I do need is: High quality to reduce the impact on my ears as much as possible Bluetooth functionality ideally - primarily they will be used to connect to a work laptop for MS Teams calls, but I would like them to connect to my Amazon Firestick to see if it is possible to listen to the...

Are the Sennheiser Momentum 3 Noise-Cancelling Headphones Good for Someone with Tinnitus?

Is your conviction based on science? "... a normal hearing level could not guarantee freedom from the adverse effects of earphone use on tinnitus..." https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8772443/

Anyone "Cured" Their Tinnitus by Treating Their Teeth?

The tooth nearest my Tinnitus has been sensitive for years, my new dentist decided to give it a crown (finishing the job three hours from now!) I asked him if it might be affecting my Tinnitus and he said, "Maybe, but ears are not my area". Anyway, it'll be interesting to see if the Tinnitus...

Tinnitus Is the Worst Problem I've Ever Encountered!

This seems very unlikely. I had a test recently and although the tone is quite loud it's nowhere near the level to cause damage to hearing. ENTs are not idiots, they are hardly going to blast peoples ears with tones at damaging levels. After the test I did notice my Tinnitus more, but that's...

What Do You Still Enjoy in Spite of Tinnitus?

Good drama on TV and talk radio programmes. "Indian Summers" and "Deutschland 83" are two of my favourites at the moment (free on Channel 4 UK!) "Deutschland 83" is in German, comes with subtitles on C4, so the sound can be turned right down.

Poll: Clarifying the Characteristics of Spikes: In Search of the Mechanism

How do you define a spike? At the moment, four hours after awakening, my Tinnitus is a bit louder than it has been over the last few weeks. (Though, as I said in my last post, I didn't notice the Tinnitus on awakening like I usually do... calm before storm?) It was also loud last night, after...

Poll: Sleeping Position and Your Morning Tinnitus

Maybe some people notice it more because they are very self aware types, that is, the first thing they do in the morning is check themselves. And what's the first thing they notice? Their Tinnitus. Others may be more outward focused and their brain scans for external noises immediately on...

Poll: The Effect of Microsuction of Earwax on Tinnitus Levels

Only a week since my micro-suction and the Tinnitus seems about the same, though my hearing is much better in my left ear, the one with Tinnitus. In fact some noises now seem much louder in my left ear then my right. Anyone had a similar experience?

Dentist Claims Dental Work Cannot Make Tinnitus Worse

These days? I'm old enough to remember there was never a golden age. In the 1970s/80s the NHS dentists in the UK were well paid to drill and fill. As a result I have a mouth full of fillings! More recently, the incentives to drill & fill were taken away, and I've had far fewer fillings since then.

Is My Tinnitus More Likely to Be Caused by Ear Wax Build Up?

Being referred for a hearing test at a local medical centre is not the same as being referred to an ENT. It might only mean a five minute hearing test, performed by a nurse, that simply means you are tested to see if you can hear people speaking to you in a normal voice. Something you probably...

Tinnitus Caused by Wax Induced Hearing Loss?

Could wax gradually accumulating in my left ear have caused the gradual increase in tinnitus that I've experienced over the last few months? One week after wax removal, I had a minimal hearing test at a walk in clinic - testing three tones across the mid range. I was intrigued that the highest...

Dentist Claims Dental Work Cannot Make Tinnitus Worse

Here's an article in the top science journal Nature indicating that dentists may be putting themselves at risk. https://www.nature.com/articles/4814024

    Finally Peace of Mind

Maybe the beeping is there to distract you from focusing on the tinnitus? Seems to have that effect on me a least. But it make it difficult to do anything else, like reading, or writing this cif! Still, at first listen this "masking + distraction" effect seems to have some promise.

DIY Brain Hacking & Tinnitus (tDCS)

@lcj What a great offer! @MattS Can you not get free use of the lab and plug yourself in? Big chance here! Look at the famous doctors who experimented on themselves. For instance, the guys who discovered that raised uric acid levels lead to gout actually injected themselves with uric acid, and...

Tried to Do This on My Own...

I've just been watching Deutschland 83 and, as it's in German, I needed the subtitles to understand anything! But it also meant I could keep the sound way low so as not to antagonise my tinnitus. Could that be a general solution for you? Watch TV with subtitles? There's always reading, of...
