  • Regular T is nothing compared to this Typewriter Evil T. You can't mask it, you can't habituate. Thank god it is not always existent.
    Bill Bauer
Do you have any ideas of what might have caused this new type of T for you?

In an earlier post, you mentioned that your boyfriend had developed T several months after you got T. How is he doing?
    Melike
@Bill Bauer I have so many ideas and there are so many theories outside, it makes me feel stressed actually. Btw, this typewriter T is not new at all, it started 2 months after the regular T onset but it is never always present, but when it is, it sometimes takes 1 -2 months to go away / reduce again.

@Bill Bauer Actually he is doing okay. By personality he is just the guy who never cares about what has been going on in his body unless there is EXTREME pain. And he is also a workaholic and %95 of the time thinks about his art so he habituated to it just like that. Lucky bastard :/
At least I am grateful for my two wisdom teeth removal with no complications so far. I'll get rid of the remaining two on 21st of Feb!
TMJ MRI revealed that I have a noduler lesion in my parotid gland (very close to T ear).I am freaking out and unexpectedly suicidal tonight.
    Melike
@MuffinMan serious clicking & locking on the T side and a TMJ specialist examined my jaw movements and said there is definitely something wrong. But my TMJ MRI says everything is fine, so I am confused a little. I wonder if we still can have TMJD even if the MRI results seem fine.
    Bill Bauer
It seems to me that it is too much of a coincidence for you to have that lesion AND T. The doctors who say that it can't cause T are likely wrong. Consider looking into getting that lesion treated...

Will consult a few more ENTs...Will keep you updated about the situation @Bill Bauer
Had 2 wisdom teeth removal today. Little pain so far. 2 more to go on the T side. Hope it will be the same for them too.
    MuffinMan
I have removed 3 wisdom teeth, I lower left was a night because it was impacted, I got sick for 2 weeks from infect, I still have the lower right to remove, and it's on the side of my T ear.
    Zeneth
my sister had all 4 of hers out at once with no problems
    Melike
@Zeneth hmm, strange...I felt sad for her, she probably had difficulty with eating for a few weeks :/
My sisters intermittent T is gone on the right and reduced significantly on left after bilateral wisdom teeth removal. DOCTORS ARE CLUELESS.
Had a dental procedure today ( cleaning + one filling on the T side). No spike so far ! 1 filling + 4 wisdom teeth removal coming soon :(
I got a middle ear infection in my T ear(due to flu).Regular T is not affected that much, but my intermittent morse code went thru the roof.
    Tinker Bell
Sorry to hear that! I hate how getting sick affects my ears more than it ever did before hearing loss. Hope you're feeling better soon!

Thank you so much @Tinker Bell! Actually I know how you got your T and you and your story were always on my mind this week. I have to take antibiotics but there is nothing else I can do to prevent a possible spread to inner ear.. :/

It's frightening. We worry so much about noise exposure but can overlook the danger of viruses. It sounds like you're doing a great job of being proactive and doing what you can to quickly recover. I use Flonase and Claritin now at the first sign of a cold and they seem to help dry out my nasal passages. Eww, I know, but necessary for me. Keep me posted on your recovery!
I used to have exploding head syndrome too. It sucked sooo bad. I'm always afraid it'll come back but I try to not think about it.
Hi! I have a lot of your symptoms. Did your visual snow/floaters/other visual stuff get better?
    Melike
Hey @Layla23. I still don't know if I have VS or not. The only thing that I know is I see flickering when I focus on busy dark patterns like the surface of my carpet. But it is absolutely dark with zero texture when I close my eyes. So, I don't know about the VS
    Melike
@Layla23 I still have lots of light floaters and blue field enthopthic phenomenon(which I believe almost everyone experiences). Exploding head sensation is gone for good thank god. It is so strange that here are lots of mysterious sensations that come with T, some of them leave some of them stay.
I think my T volume never went down for real. I just got better at masking it all the time with other sounds. Sad truth.
    Shera
Well at least you know masking works and can get some relief that way.
    Melike
@Shera how are you doing? :(
    Shera
A little off. I thought I was starting to habituate, but I've been a bit off the rails lately. The intensity is killing me.
How is your T doing? I'm 21 months in and I had a little spike (small acoustic shock), but it went back to my baseline (mild T) in a couple days.
So even after this long spikes can still happen. My overall T has decreased a lot, and I'm still hopeful for a full recovery,(it continues to SLOWLY fade) but it may take another 6-12 months

@jjflyman Thanks ! I really hope it is a sign of full recovery :)

How are you Melike? is it better now?
    Melike
@dpdx No, its been really spiky for a few weeks for some reason but I tell you what, nobody's T journey is the same so it is probably healthier for you to not check out for other people's progress and compare. I'm assuming you are doing this because I've been there too and it did not do any good. No offense please, just sharing my experience.
Hi all.Today is my 1 year anniversary with T and I am experiencing the most silent days of this year nowadays. It really gets better :)
    dpdx
    any update Melike?
    Melike
@dpdx unfortunately my T has been a little louder than its normal level for the past 2 months. Don't know why.
    dpdx
I been dealing with intrusive tinnitus since January, before that I had mild tinnitus. Hyperacusis is also bad. Life sucks now.
I def feel better but considring the volume of T throughout 10 months.Maybe %10 decrease? :( Is it normal to see major imprvmnt after a year

@dpdx It is so sad that the song is all about misfortune, doom and gloom
    dpdx
that is why i chose it

@Melike I get what you mean. By my first 3 months my T was almost gone. Then when my jaw got reticked the T just kept getting worse and worse. I know there's been some improvement now, but it's still so intense. The healing/improvements seem so small. My brain is so exhausted.
Its 04.20 am here and cant sleep because of my loud screaming T plus morse code. I am exhausted.
I'm approaching my 10th monh mark. I am happy to say that I'm mostly out of darkness but sometimes it just makes me want to die. Today.
    TheDanishGirl
Glad to hear you are doing better. I think bad days will still come sometimes, but as long as we can move forward, better days will come again
Despite the relatively rare occasions that T bothers me A LOT, like today, I am happy to say after 9 months, I am %90 back to my old life.
    Melike
@jjflyman But also I sometimes realize that I dont hear my tone in places where I previously would. I really don't know, it is quite hard to distinguish. Being T free would be too good to be true but I still believe that I will keep improving. 9 months is still the early stages for this monster, right?
    jjflyman
@Melike Yes, 9 months is still early. Progress is so slow. I read someplace (from an ENT report) that 1-2 years is a typical time frame for recovery. IMO, we are both on track. I hope to see both our success stories here next year.
    Shera
I'm glad to hear you're doing so well. I hope I get to where you are and keep making progress.
I had a major spike yesterday night. Seriously, it was horrifying. But it made me realize how much I've improved since the onset. A lot.
    Melike
It still can subside. Hold on there. We are this >> . close to overcoming this shit. @Shera
    dpdx
I hope you are doing well Melike?

@dpdx hey. I had better days, actually. My T is a bit loud for some reason nowadays but I'm coping better compared to the first few months after the onset.
It is so strange that first my boyfriend, then my sister and recently my mother developed T too. It all happened it just 2 months! So weird.

@Equalizer Can you just f-off? I am better. I don't talk about my T at all. Why the hell they keep telling me about their T then? why do they lie for no reason? Don't comment on my posts again.

@JurgenG I would say chronic stress. We all have been going through really difficult times in terms of financials, family issues etc. No, we all live in different cities but they spent a considerable time in my house of course.

@khushbu Thanks. No, it did not. It is strong as hell. Still can stop it by pressing my TMJ but I am not able to afford a treatment for my jaw at the moment. My T is not that loud, not noticeable during day time (%90), only annoying at home and night thankfully.
I now have a job ! A pretty good one indeed.

@victoria9273 thanks victoria :) I still have bad days where the volume of my T is pretty high, but I am so busy that I can't even think about it. Nighttimes become a torture at that times. On my good days, I don't hear my T during the daytime and I manage to sleep the whole night without waking up

In a much better place despite my loud new secondary tone. Thank you my dear over-demanding and merciless school.
    TheDanishGirl
Wow, how do you maintain such a calm demeanor? :p, Im envious of that....I would have been in great despair if I developed a loud new tone

@TheDanishGirlKD I am sick and tired of being a mess over and over again. I think I finally learnt how to say 'fuck you' to every trouble that comes with T. My sister, my boyfriend and recently my mother developed T in the last 2 months, that helped me to think that I am not alone, to be honest.
    TheDanishGirl
As much as I am sad that your family members has also developed T, I do understand you! It helps to be around people in the same situation, who understands you. I am beginning to become habiatuated but I am not quite their yet.
I need someone from Canada to get in touch with me asap.If you are currently in a job searching process, thats better. I have some questions
Hey there. Hope you're well. I read that you had rTMS done and that it helped you, but from your recent messages it sounds like you are still suffering from tinnitus. Did the rTMS only work short term?
    Melike
@sanj100 hey, the short answer is yes. But it is still unclear if my T was brought by a disorder in my left TMJ. rTMS wouldn't work anyways if it was.
I am officially diagnosed with TMJD on my T side today. I don't know what to think.
    Casper
Hey @Melike, thanks for your reply. I hope this is the beginning of some real improvement for you. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of treatment is he suggesting?
    Melike
@Casper he said that we need to get an MRI of my temporomandibular joint before we choose any kind of treatment method.
    Shera
Keep us posted! I'm very curious what he will have you do.

Also, did he advise you to sleep on your back if you're a side sleeper?
Menstruation + a BIG HEAVY flu gave me the worst morse code+high pitch ever. Still waiting for it to fade a little bit.
Lidocain eliminated my T almost completely. Silence is so beautiful.
    John G
Maybe I will try some in my morning coffee haha
@Melike curious if your T will completely go away after you get your wisdom teeth pulled.
    Sonic17
So, you have Tinnitus due to an impacted wisdom tooth?
    Melike
    @John G hahah, me too !

@ABakos we still don't know that. A dozen of dental expert think that they are not related. A neurologist on the other hand thinks that it is certainly because of that.
Now my boyfriend has a brand new tinnitus. We are the T family. YAAAAAAY.
    Melike
@jjflyman Thats unclear. Probably working with loud equipment without ear protection. He is a musician also. I warned him several times but....
    jjflyman
Hopefully he will protect his ears from now on, and his T will fade.
    Doga
Congratz! I feel strangely awkward for saying that. Lol :)

Going through the same old hell again. Morse code + loud scream on the left. I hate these swings.
