I am part of a business systems team at an educational software company, Carnegie Learning, based in Pittsburgh PA. CL acquired my employer, a neuroscience-based educational software company called Scientific Learning, in September of 2019.
My tinnitus appeared after some punishing noise 5 days earlier in our offices. The origin of the noise turned out to be a failing component on a generator on the roof of a building across a major street from my office. The noise source was easily 40 yards away, but it was pointed right at my window, which was an original window from the old building (I think) poorly sealed. The frequency was high enough that it was not perceptible by many.
Fortunately we moved about 4 months later. But the damage was done.
I have found a routine that helps a lot: as often as possible, aerobic exercise and almost daily use of AudioNotch. If my T has flared up, getting 30+ minutes of a solid swim, run or hour of Zumba with some time listening to AudioNotch that day will pretty much guarantee that the noise will be lower or GONE the next day. This makes me happy! and is making me healthier in general anyway.
