I would say see an ENT with experience with Tinnitus and let her/him decide. Continuing the steroid may not be the worst idea, but the biggest impact from them you usually get right at the beginning/

I have never done it before, but I heard you should take some decongestant (like Sudafed) to aid pressure equalization in your ears. And avoid flying with a bad cold.
