    Best Earplugs?

Thanks, good suggestion. Don’t plan on being a regular shooter since getting tinnitus :-)

    Best Earplugs?

Thanks - wondering about some I’ve heard about (EAR defense for example) that actually use some type of filter. I’ve been using foam and silicone which do a fine job volume reduction wise, but are very weak on preserving clarity. I’m getting lots of ads on my feed for musician/high fidelity...

    Best Earplugs?

Hi all, Trying to find out what is the latest and greatest in March of 2019! I’ve determined not to live in a bubble, but that does not mean I want to be unwise either. If I’m really in louder (unsafe for prolonged exposure) environments I will currently pop in some foam plugs with the highest...

New Product — Helmet Angel — for Cyclists with Tinnitus!

Okay, I’ve got to get back on the bike (outside). For mountain biking I’m not worried about wind noise (I doubt my sub 10mph average rides are hurting me - you can tell I climb more than downhill). But I want to get back in the road and need to pull the trigger on something. I’ve read that the...

Very true @gorzakus, the past is fixed. All we have is the present and the future.

New Product — Helmet Angel — for Cyclists with Tinnitus!

@gorzakus, thanks for the encouragement. With the lack of sleep, getting on the trainer is a challenge for sure, but I’m praying this phase of sleeplessness will soon pass.

New Product — Helmet Angel — for Cyclists with Tinnitus!

When I did a lot of triathlon I used the Giro Advantage 2, total ear coverage, but not what you want for a 4 hour group ride in the mountains. I honestly never thought about wind noise before. I’ve cycled for a long time, wonder if that could have contributed to my issues?

New Product — Helmet Angel — for Cyclists with Tinnitus!

Do the cat ears get sweaty in the Summer? I ride a lot in the heat, lots of climbing, and I was afraid that they might act like sponges. I just got back on the trainer for the first time this year. I wore ear plugs out of fear/caution. I have a kickr which is pretty quiet, but also run a fan...

Can Someone Explain to a Newbie What Habituation Is and “Ideally” How It Works?

Thanks @Hazel, I’ve been doing the opposite I think. I’ve been so focused on trying to keep notes for my doc visits I’ve been taking notes daily. Louder today, more manageable at this hour, higher pitches at 7 o’clock, etc, etc. In trying to be clinical and proactive, I wonder if I’m being...

Can Someone Explain to a Newbie What Habituation Is and “Ideally” How It Works?

@Michael Leigh and @coffee_girl, thank you both. Michael, I really found the info in that post helpful. Thanks for pulling it up for me (and for not berating me for not finding it myself :-) ). It is greatly appreciated. Coffee_Girl, also good sound advice. I used to be incredibly active. After...

Can Someone Explain to a Newbie What Habituation Is and “Ideally” How It Works?

Thanks for the scam warning. Man, try NOT to focus on the sound, there is a challenge right there!

Can Someone Explain to a Newbie What Habituation Is and “Ideally” How It Works?

Thankfully, although I’ve been diagnosed with some borderline mild/moderate hearing loss, I haven’t felt a real impact from that part yet. Maybe it’s because of the higher frequency loss, or because the ringing is SO much more noticeable, but I don’t get that full ear sensation I hear about (at...

Can Someone Explain to a Newbie What Habituation Is and “Ideally” How It Works?

Gotcha, and I’ve done construction around swine, do I follow the concept of nose-blind well, but are there any how-to things to practice? Is it supposed to just happen on its own. Trust me, I didn’t try to learn to accept the pig smell, either it just happened or my olfactory senses left in...
