    New Tinnitus Tones

I'm not on any drugs but every now and then a new high-pitched whistle comes in both ears, then thankfully subsides after about 30 seconds. Scary to think it may stay one day as it is very intrusive. (I am gradually getting some habituation with my 'normal' T but this new noise is disturbing).

    G'day from Brisbane, Australia

PS I have to retract some of my snipe at medicos - Dr Nagler on this forum is extremely knowlegable and helpful - I always look forward to his posts, full of common-sense and understanding (he is a fellow sufferer). So, no, not all medicos are uncaring, and I'm sure there are others out there...

    G'day from Brisbane, Australia

Hi Mike Just to say Hi from West Aus - as you can see I am a 29-year sufferer, however the volume of me 'ole mate Mr T increased (30%) about a year ago. I just wanted to mention Neuromonics - I gave them $5G about 15y ago and it did absolutely nothing for me. But I have to add that it seems to...

    How Often Do You Mask?

I prefer to use the word 'distraction' rather than masking, because I'm unable to mask my singing white-noise T (it's too loud), but I distract myself from it so I don't notice it. I use sound a lot - all night and in quiet times. I have mp3 players on which are white and pink noise, plus a few...

    alan d.

Hi Alan The posts above by the other guys are spot-on. With them I sympathise with you. T is a bully that is best positively ignored. You can train your brain to ignore this and by so doing will not allow it to impact on your life. Keep active to keep your mind off it and avoid quiet times...

    Tinnitus and TINNITUS

Me too Telis. For example, I don't know whether, when my T gets so loud that I can hear it OVER and ABOVE everything else, whether it is actually that loud. Or is it just me, reacting too much to it? <sighhh> all I can do is go back to my white noise machine - but I don't take any comfort in the...

    Shooting Range and Tinnitus

I acquired T from an unprotected .243 which in the list is around 155db... stupid stupid stupid me. IMHO It's a no-brainer: Use ANY sort of ear proection unless you want 29yrs of T, on-going like me.

    Experts Challenge Caffeine-Tinnitus Link

I developed my T long, long before I developed an addiction to a good Long Black - my T doesn't alter one way or another and I'm not going to give up one of my real pleasures while I have to put up with a howling head. I have good T days when I drink heaps of coffee and have bad days when I...

    Earplugs Making Tinnitus Worse?

Hi Rhea. I can only agree with you. Jastreboff's model of T and his Tinnitus Retraining Therapy, which is a habituation program, strongly recommends to avoid silence, which is what total sound-blocking earplugs like foam will do. He refers to an early trial where ppl (who did not have T) were...

What Hobbies Do You Have? (and Does Tinnitus Interfere?)

Hi Clive - my wife and I are also motorcyclists, although not Harleys - unfortunately wind/engine noise makes my T worse but I use noise-cancelling earphones and play an mp3. Afterwards the T is a little less. T is definitely not going to stop us from what we enjoy - we ride across the country...

Scam or Legit? Thomas Coleman's Tinnitus Miracle

I do not want to come across as being mean but I am... so I hope this punk gets a Yeast infection in his acne covered hemorroids, followed by panic inducing heartburn causing incurable TMJ and deafening tinnitus. LOL - heh heh... brilliant RaZaH. Love it!! (BTW - How do you guys get to have...

Wondering What We All Do for Our Work/Job/Living

Yep the telescope doesn't work all that well, seems to be out of focus - wouldn't be my eyes would it... <sighhh> maybe just as well, I get onto enough trouble without this...

Wondering What We All Do for Our Work/Job/Living

Hmmm... just found a telescope in the spare room, dusted it off but haven't found any neighbour ladies yet... Amazing what you can learn on this forum, all sorts of tricks... heh heh... PS Jen doesn't do this forum. Lucky for me. She has a mean straight left.

Wondering What We All Do for Our Work/Job/Living

Hi Marlene. I relate to teaching Jen to ride a scooter; she's fallen a couple of times and at our ages it takes more than ages for bruises to heal... so it's a long process but she's determined - she may give up yet, hope not but we'll see. I've often been fascinated by, of all things people...

    Potential Scam, Snake Oil: TinAway

Hmmmm... agree T-Man. I'll stick with my little ole mp3 player methinks - seems like a fancy masker to me... but let's hope we're wrong...
