I took one capsule of Valerian root two days ago and I had a very slight spike the next day and today my tinnitus is even slightly louder. Doesn’t make sense. May be coincidental. I know Valerian root is not shown to cause tinnitus spikes.

Metoprolol along with other beta blockers are ototoxic. Do your research before you take any meds. I am sure there are good meds without ototoxic side effects.

Beautiful message. Thanks for sharing. I have had a spike since 12-1-21 after taking a statin for one month. It’s been few days but these were darkest days of my life. What helped me was counseling by therapist. I would say repeat mantra “AUm Namah shivay”and it helped me a few times to go to sleep.

Have you tried therapy? I have learned that mild tinnitus can get worse because we just keep thinking about it. That has been true for me.

Have you tried white noise?

Can you please clarify again? Is your tinnitus still as loud as when you had the panic attacks, but it’s not bothering you as much nowadays? You can hear it over TV or everyday conversation and it’s not bothering you?

I have been trying to figure out for a long time if there are people who have very loud tinnitus and are not getting bothered by it. Most people I have talked to, when they mention their tinnitus doesn't bother them any more, the real reason behind is that their tinnitus volume has subsided...

That is a beautiful message! There are so many legends who have tinnitus and they live successful lives.

No way you can give up education. Your goal is to protect your hearing now. That means 1) no loud places at all, no movies, no concerts or live events and 2) be careful when you take meds. You have to remember for most people tinnitus goes down a lot and stay like that for a lifetime except...

How is your tinnitus now? I feel your pain. I am in the same shoes. Even though I have had tinnitus for the last 10 years and I had had the occasional spike, I had Mother of All Spikes last week. I had panic attacks and crazy fear for the future.

Most definitely. I had a bad spike after a long time and I was having anxiety attacks. I couldn’t deal with it. Now my tinnitus has subsided a bit and at least I am not getting anxiety attacks. Miss my silence. Hoping I get back to my previous baseline. Has your volume subsided or is it...

Update: My tinnitus tone has been changing and now I have a whistle. It’s loud and annoying but no way close to unbearable level it was when it started. It’s weird that time has been changing it. I had somewhat quiet few hours in the last 2-3 days.

Doesn’t marijuana make tinnitus louder? I wonder if glass of wine would help to calm down anxiety? Alcohol disrupts my sleep, otherwise I would have a glass of wine.
