DIY Low-Level Laser Therapy for Tinnitus on a Budget — LLLT Under 100,-

I purchased a 630nm version of the same flashlight, linked above. With the NIR version it burned after 2 days straight of 2 x 5 minute sessions. I have been experimenting with lower time (2 mins) and it seems to be fine. Not sure if it was the light or waste heat from the flashlight. Also, the...

DIY Low-Level Laser Therapy for Tinnitus on a Budget — LLLT Under 100,-

I received my power meter and took some readings. The meter went out of range (40mW/cm2 max) with the IR and Red light flush. So I used the following procedure to estimate it: 1. I took a reading that was in range. 2. Measured the projected circle (engineering paper came in handy for this). 3...

It's Not Your Hair Cells! It's the Stereocicilia and Resulting Ion Balance!

@JRchief Interesting, I have the opposite experience. Plugs and earmuffs make mine go through the roof, but at least it will go back down once they are off. If I don't use them I can expect a spike for days.

Here is another version in red for $9. It uses a red Cree xp-e which is 630nm. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0136RV4YY It can double as a red light for astronomy. :)

Lol, I just ordered one. Regardless it did fry my ears a bit. Like mild sunburn on the second day.

DIY Low-Level Laser Therapy for Tinnitus on a Budget — LLLT Under 100,-

If the 14500 batteries run this thing at 5W, I calculated 1600 mW/cm2. Probably high for two 5 minute sessions per day, as evidenced by some raw outer ears :inpain:. My calculations are based on the light cone at the exit of the flashlight being approximately 19.5mm in diameter. 5000mW / 3cm2...

DIY Low-Level Laser Therapy for Tinnitus on a Budget — LLLT Under 100,-

@SilverSpiral No I'm not really worried about that. The charger, though cheap appears to pulse charge the batteries. The led flashes red / green until it is charged. The battery does not even get warm while charging. Note the IR version does not come with 14500 batteries, but plain flashlight...

DIY Low-Level Laser Therapy for Tinnitus on a Budget — LLLT Under 100,-

That's my plan at this point, only one day in... I'm still digesting all the information (about lllt) and I find doing something helps me understand things a bit more. I figure I will try it on some aches and pains too and see what happens. Not that using this device is definitive in any way...

DIY Low-Level Laser Therapy for Tinnitus on a Budget — LLLT Under 100,-

Well they are not the best batteries, they don't last too long. Maybe 20 minutes., but both flashlights are designed to use either AA or 14500, the later recommended for its intended purpose. If it's dropping down shortly after turning on, the battery is probably low or defective and the light...

DIY Low-Level Laser Therapy for Tinnitus on a Budget — LLLT Under 100,-

If you are trying out the iLauke IR flash light, the 14500 batteries give it a lot more power. The whole flashlight casing gets warm. I purchased the following regular flashlight w/ batteries for $9.99 US that turned out to be the exact same flashlight housing with a regular visible light led...

    Tinnitus and Hacking Cough...

This is an old thread but I will put my 2 cents in. If you have reactive tinnitus, it would make sense that sneezing and coughing would aggravate it. That has been my experience. I have held a sound meter at my ears during a strong cough and registered 95-100db. I can take one of those during a...

Masking with White Noise Aggravates Tinnitus

When it started it was around 11775, though inadvertent noise exposure without protection has added more noise to the mix and made it harder to mask.

Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) for Tinnitus — Experiences (Dr. Wilden, etc.)

Not sure exactly, though I did a bit of construction work as a teenager and diy projects. It just started faintly one day and seems gets worse if I am exposed to loud noises for a period of time (i.e. parties, etc). One odd pattern that I have noticed is that there is a delay of about 3 days...

Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) for Tinnitus — Experiences (Dr. Wilden, etc.)

I have a set of musicians plugs too that I carry on my key chain. I was also ignorant and put myself in noise situations that made my T worse, sometimes temporarily, others permanently (wedding, parties, etc.). The worst was from chaperoning my son's class at the local amusement park. Just...

Masking with White Noise Aggravates Tinnitus

Listening to white noise (all frequencies present) seems to aggravate mine too. I had better luck with a narrow noise band around my tinnitus frequency (say +/- 500Hz), that masked it completely. I used Audacity to create it.
