  • Used to be, when I was overwhelmed by life problems & mental illness, I would take a walk among the trees. The peace & silence comforted me.
    SugarMagnolia
But there's no silence any more. Instead of me and the trees and maybe the song of some robins, it's Eeeeeeee eeeeee eeeeeeeee!

I was working alongside a stream today. Pure heaven!

Life seems so different now. Hopefully we'll adapt.

I read that if T doesn't fade in 2 years it's permanent. It's been over 2 years for me. Zero reduction. Guess I'm one of the permanent ones.
The forklifts (or whatever machines they are) have been beeping literally nonstop all day. It's over six hours and counting.

I'm not protecting my ear because I need to get used to this stuff. This construction work will likely continue for years. That's the way it is around here. I think they're far enough away that the volume isn't loud enough to harm me. But emotionally I'm a wreck. The sound is so horrible.

6 hours non stop, they are going to get a guiness I guess. A forklift operates in my neighbourhood at a construction site but it's only for an hour or two every day. The beep is annoying but it's a bit far away from my house.
I was on speaker phone with someone in a hospital and suddenly heard a series of high-pitched beeps. T seems louder now.
    SugarMagnolia
Could the beeps have been dangerously loud? Or am I responding to all high-pitched beeps regardless of volume? The latter seems the more logical
    SugarMagnolia
Hospitals are scary enough. But I'm suddenly horrified by the idea of hospitals as places full of high-pitched beeps. What would a patient with H do in such a hell?
Why does he say that I don't really have T? I never complain about my T to him. Never. But for some reason, he needs to deny that I have it.

I'm going through something very similar. He believes I have T but doesn't believe it's as debilitating as I claim. Why would I make this up! I just want to get on with my life, I hate it.
    SugarMagnolia
Exactly. Dealing with T is bad enough all by itself. We shouldn't also have to prove that our suffering is real.

The worst thing is when they say it is nothing.... -.-' I wish it was nothing
The effects of verbal abuse are cumulative. Like toxins building up in the body, insults and vile names gradually poison the mind.
I have the day off, but the construction workers outside my window do not. So it's a day of high-pitched beeps for me.
    SugarMagnolia
I used to look forward to the summer: longer days and a reduced work schedule. But with H, I dread the summer. Long hours of daylight mean longer work days for the construction workers.

That is the worst when your own home isn't even safe. By the way, my spouse isn't supportive either and yet she says she gets T sometimes.
    SugarMagnolia
Sometimes is the key word. There's a world of difference between 'sometimes' and 'every second of your life.'
Doors that go BEEEEEEEEP when you walk in. What's next? Land mines in the carpet?

I once went to a pizza place that had the door chime on max because there was only one employee working.

    Booby traps are everywhere.

O'Reilly auto parts has a doorbell set at head level so it rings directly into your ear when you open the door... Fun stuff.
So nice to be told my H isn't real. I'm just crazy because sounds that don't hurt other people can't hurt me either.
    Red
Imo H is a physiological change in our bodies to get us to avoid noises that would further harm our ears.
I posted a thread yesterday and when I came back an hour later, my opening post was different from what I wrote. Puzzling, to say the least.
My day was fine until a bus honked its horn right next to me. It was so close, so loud, so high-pitched. Now T is up and I'm scared.
    Red
I have hope for you. Imo continuous noise is more scary. But it is scary to spike especially if they last a long time
First thing in the morning and he's yelling already. When I woke up, ear pain was low and now it's up again.
    Julien87
he's looking for some attention, don't give it to him ^^
    SugarMagnolia
Yes Julien, you're right. If only he would yell quietly.
I'm in distress and DH is yelling at me & telling me to kill myself.
    SugarMagnolia
DH = Dear Husband or Damn Husband, depending on the context.
    TheDanishGirl
Your husband sounds very unsupportive and I am sorry for that :( nobody should threathen you, you should not accept that....you do not deserve it. Hug.
    SugarMagnolia
He is disabled and has a lot of anger. When I was in perfect health, all was well. But now I have problems that he can't see or understand, and instead of accepting and commiserating, he throws tantrums.
Why does DH insist on watching reality shows where they curse constantly and each curse word is bleeped? Each high-pitched bleep hurts me.
    SugarMagnolia
This bleeping car is so bleeping fast, You gotta bleeping try it. It's so bleeping awesome. Ouch-ouch-ouch-ouch! Even in the other room it's still painfully loud because the wall is thin and the door is hollow.
Depressed today. It's all getting to me: my OCD, my marriage, my apt, my low salary, and now probably H & TTTS on top of T.
I hate the new toaster. Bent close to it to read the tiny print on the knob, turned the knob, & guess what? It beeped right in my bad ear.
    SugarMagnolia
I'm trying to keep my anxiety down about high-pitched beeps, and the toaster goes and beeps a foot from my stupid head!
    SugarMagnolia
Why does everything nowadays have to make high-pitched beeps? I try to be careful, but I keep getting surprised by beeps in unexpected places.
Two weeks since that noise near my ear and the new discomfort persists. Not bad enough to call pain, but it's weird and scary. TTTS maybe?
Mornings around here are a symphony of low-pitched hums, high-pitched beeps, car horns, and the occasional siren. Anyone want to visit?
    SugarMagnolia
I hear you Dij111. There's a new building going up on my block and I think some of the noise is from them.
    Apolonia
Never been there. I live in Europe. Would Like to visit IT one day
    Apolonia
Although I don't envy you that much.. BC I live by the sea in the most beautiful town in Croatia :p i love my sea :)
Well, the mystery hum is no longer an evening-only noise. I still don't know if it's inside the building or outside.
    SugarMagnolia
DH thinks it's coming from another apt, but there's no way to know which one. It starts everyday in the early evening and continues until sometime after I've fallen asleep. I try telling myself it probably isn't hurting me, but it gives me anxiety. What timing! This new noise started only a few days after the blast in my ear that is giving me a scary new symptom.
high-pitched beeps from trucks backing up--all morning; it's been over two hours, how much backing up can you do?
