Using Minoxidil / Rogaine for Hair Loss — Impact on Tinnitus?

Eight months later, I'll report that my spike did subside (it didn't take very long), but I don't recommend Minoxidil to anyone who is prone to tinnitus.

Using Minoxidil / Rogaine for Hair Loss — Impact on Tinnitus?

I had used Minoxidil / Rogaine in the past (pre-tinnitus), with no problem. A few days ago I tried it again, one single application (just the 2%), and within a few hours a spike began. Nothing else was going on, no noise exposure or new medications. I was just working quietly at home. I don't...

Is a Car or Train Quieter? My Son Can't Fly Due to Eustachian Tube Dysfunction

I have to take my son cross country to get to John Hopkins, where they have a Eustachian Tube clinic. There is nothing like that here in Texas. My son can't fly due to the disorder - his inner ear might get damaged due to the pressure changes. It's either drive, take a train or the bus. It's...

Loud Noise Exposure Caused My Tinnitus — Prednisone Made It Worse

Prednisone should always be tapered, and it has consistently helped both my and my son's ear problems. It reduces inflammation and damage.

What's Hurting My Son? Severe Hyperacusis, Constant Pressure in Ears, Acute Pain, and More...

There was no noise exposure incident, no. My son has also never worn headphones. Right now, the tentative diagnoses are patulous Eustachian tube, and idiopathic intracranial hypertension.

What's Hurting My Son? Severe Hyperacusis, Constant Pressure in Ears, Acute Pain, and More...

I have a 16 year old son who is in terrible pain & unable to live a normal life. Doctors can't figure out why. He had normal ears until 10 months ago. He has never liked extreme noise but had no problem hearing occasional loud music at a party, a fireworks display, etc. In other words, he...

    Hearing Protection for MRI Exam?

Can you please give me the phone number / department you called at Canon to find out where their machines are? I have not been able to get that info. I have called lots of radiology departments, and have only found those machines in a couple of hospitals across the country, not close to me at...

How to Get the Quietest MRI Experience?

Has anyone had an MRI in a Toshiba Galan and can tell me where to go to get that machine, which is supposed to be the quietest? Calling Toshiba/Canon is pointless - I've tried & they won't tell where the machines are as they say it's a liability issue. Doctors are also clueless.

MRI-Induced Tinnitus Has Got Worse Along with Developing Pain Hyperacusis

I recommend oral Methylprednisolone and/or intratympanic steroid injections into your eardrums if you haven't yet.

MRI-Induced Tinnitus Has Got Worse Along with Developing Pain Hyperacusis

I'm so sorry to hear this. May God bless and protect you. May I ask, were you given any hearing protection in the MRI machine? If so, what kind? What was the scan for?

    Hearing Protection for MRI Exam?

Where did you have a 3T Vantage MRI done? I have called them and the company will not share where the machines are. Where did you have this done? I've been looking all over trying to find a place.

Does the increased loudness only last during the injections, or also after?

Steroids: Prednisone / Dexamethasone / Others (Oral and Intratympanic Injections)

My very anxious 16-year-old son has been prescribed steroid injections into the eardrums and is scared. I have a few questions for those of you who have experienced this procedure: 1. Has anyone ever been able to get it done under general anesthesia? Our doctor won't do this although I've read...

Steroids: Prednisone / Dexamethasone / Others (Oral and Intratympanic Injections)

My 16 year-old son began having a lot of ear problems a few months ago, including ear pain, fullness, slightly muffled hearing (despite 2 normal hearing tests), tinnitus and hyperacusis. Doctors haven't pinpointed the cause (no medications before onset or extreme noise exposure), and he's tried...
