Reactive Tinnitus and Sound Distortions: How to Move Forward?

I know it can be scary when the tones change, but I always try to view it as a positive sign. It shows that there is still elasticity in your brain. If the tones are changing, it might mean that your brain is trying to correct them. Hopefully, they will eventually fade away completely or...

Reactive Tinnitus and Sound Distortions: How to Move Forward?

It sounds like your situation is similar to mine—I experienced some initial improvements and managed to adjust to the remaining reactive tinnitus, but things have recently gotten worse again. Fingers crossed that we both get through this once more.

Reactive Tinnitus and Sound Distortions: How to Move Forward?

Hey, I don’t necessarily have any advice, but I just wanted to say thank you for posting because you seem to be going through exactly what I’m experiencing at the moment. I’ve had a long and complicated history with tinnitus for over a decade now, which I’ve posted about over the years. I first...

In Loving Memory of Brian Jordan Pariente (Brian P)

I don’t post a lot on here but I’m often lurking and would always read Brian’s posts, I liked how blunt and unapologetic he was. I felt sick when I first saw this post and have been thinking about him a lot these past few days. I hope he is finally at peace now, but it’s so sad it has to come to...

    Suicidal

I can so relate. I’m so tired of the cycle of my tinnitus permanently changing, taking months to get used to it. Life finally seems bearable and then it happens again. Over 10 years of this now. I was doing quite well in February but struggling again today. I hope this doesn’t turn into weeks...

Occupational Health Work Place Adjustments for Tinnitus

Hey, in 2019 when I was really struggling and had to take a few days off sick when I was at my worst, I was sent to occupational health when I returned. I found the doctor I spoke to extremely nice and understanding about tinnitus. My job was office based (auditor) so the main adjustments they...

Hey, I still have the noise but I find that it fluctuates these days, so some days I can barely hear it and some days it’s louder. I can only hear it at night generally so that’s one good thing. My main struggle at the moment is reactive tinnitus in one ear which started a couple of months ago.

Teams Meetings & Headphones — How to Avoid Making Tinnitus and Hyperacusis Worse?

Hiya, I’ve also been doing a lot of Teams calls since last March and I’ve been finding the Jabra Evolve 75 headphones very good. They are Bluetooth so you can keep them on while you’re walking around the house and they have noise cancelling but they sit on the ear rather than completely cupping...

Tinnitus Almost Gone in Quiet Environments — Gets Worse with More Background Noise

I’ve had a similar thing for a few weeks now, the new noise is in one ear only and goes away 100% in silence. I have no idea what’s caused it and I’ve had no improvement yet. Sorry to not offer any help but you’re not alone.

    Unilateral Reactive Tinnitus?

Sorry to dig up an old thread but I just wanted to check in and see if you have had any improvement for your reactive tinnitus (i.e the tinnitus that appears solely in response to external noise and then immediately goes quiet as soon as the external noise source is removed)? I’ve had tinnitus...

Suddenly Can't Hear Any High Frequencies in My Left Ear — Everything Sounds Muffled

I get a similar thing as well - the ringing in one ear will get 10x louder and in my other ear I become unable to hear high pitched noises. Lasts anywhere from 10 minutes to a full day. This has been happening to me for the last 5 years and no one has ever been able to work out why this happens...

8 Months Since My Tinnitus Got Worse. I'm No Longer the Person I Was.

Well you can feel free to message me any time as well (in fact anyone who’s reading this can message me) personally I’m lucky enough to have very understanding people around me but they are so nice that I’m sure they wouldn’t tell me if I’m starting to annoy them, so I try not to bother them too...

8 Months Since My Tinnitus Got Worse. I'm No Longer the Person I Was.

I can relate - I've had tinnitus for about 10 yrs now and was coping alright but things got a lot worse this year and I can't seem to snap out of this headspace. Before it was like 90% happiness and optimism 10% anxiety/depression about tinnitus but now it feels like the percentages have been...
