Poll: Was the Advice You Got on Tinnitus Talk More Useful Than Your ENT's Advice?

In the end my ENT did not help at all. One would think that if a patient calls with recent acoustic trauma they would make it a point to squeeze them into their schedule right away. I don't consider myself special but I think those circumstances are. My PCP was very casual about my situation...

Poll: Did You Know About Decibels and Sound Guidelines Before Tinnitus?

Do you mean was I warned? The answer is yes. Pretty bad after a few concerts back in the day but it always subsided. I just thought it was a part of life.

Poll: Did You Know About Decibels and Sound Guidelines Before Tinnitus?

@Autumnly, I agree with all of the above. What I never knew was that tinnitus could embed and become a lasting condition. Had I have known this, particularly early on in life I'd have been much more cautious.

    Composer with Tinnitus

Hi @BobG. Welcome to the forum. I'm also a musician with a DAW at my house. I don't know what kind of stuff your doing but if you're composing using midi and speakers as opposed to tracking with headphones you might be ok at low volumes. You need to watch using headphones at any volume right now...

    N-Acetylcysteine (NAC)

I've been using NAC for a month as more of a precautionary measure with no side effects. 600mg before breakfast. There was an army study I have not seen but I read about that stated that taking 1200mg 11 hours before exposure to loud noise could reduce the harm from exposure. Then there is this...

Does Anyone Still Use Power Tools?

Yeah. I was wondering about this also. I'm a woodworker that needs to get back to work but I've been trying to figure something else out. Tools that scream like a router, chopbox or as @Alue mentioned an impact wrench would give me serious pause.

    Favourite Video Games?

I've been digging Everspace recently. It's a bit of a grind at first but you get rewarded every time you die. I've been rewarded a lot! It's getting more fun by the day. Intel i5 Gigabyte Z97MX- Gaming5 motherboard MSI GTX 970 Gpu 16 GB ram

@Nicola8478 The first thing I want say is stay in the light. I don't find what you wrote crazy and in fact I think writing things like this down is healthy. Stay strong.

Sometimes I "Feel" Tinnitus as Much as I "Hear" It...

Definitely! And I agree this can be the worse part. It makes me feel aloof, unfocused, vague and disconnected. It's next to impossible to explain or describe this to someone who doesn't have T. It's like living in a cloud. There's more to T than just the sound. @LisaH thank you for this post, it...

A Valid Reason Why Habituation Should Not Be Glorified

This totally describes me right now although the noise isn't helping any either. I'm two months in and am finding it really difficult to put a positive spin on this. I've given up on talking to people, well family at least. Everyone either says "oh I have it too" and looks at me funny or says...

    E-Cigs and Hearing Loss
