  • Can noise induced tinnitus get worse because of stress?
    BrOKeN_1
In my experience Yes. Whatever the stress is. I hope you find a way to manage it quickly.
    RunningMan
The consensus is yes. I'm not sure it actually affects the volume for me as my tinnitus is pretty variable, but it may at least seem worse when you're feeling stress or anxiety.
My fiance about to breakup - she was my first and only love (6-year relationship). Fearful of the future, even more so when I first got T/H

Sorry to see you are doing bad again with your Pain H. Since last time I posted on your wall I have spiraled to where I am unable to care for my children and am isolated constantly. My heart goes out to you friend.

Sorry just seeing your post now - Really sad to hear about your struggles with this, I hope you got to see some relief since you posted this, my prayers are with you.
very bad H again - construction at neighbouring houses since last month - don't know till when it will continue. feeling defeated

Do you feel fullness, pressure behind/in ears and clicking/popping sound in ear?
    RishRamsey
    Scarface Tony
@RishRamsey does that happen all the time or occassionally? I had it for a day or 2 but it got better. sometimes digital sounds from laptop or phone hurt my ear with sharp pain but it eventually goes away
Neighbors getting their house renovated. The day I need a good ear rest day is the day those drillers are going away. I hate all of this
Just got a congratulations alert for being here for 3 years - weird. Not the best thing to be happy about I suppose lol
    ThomasF
Its a good thing. That means you've been getting support from others and have been supporting others as well. Eventually there will be no need for this forum because T will be a thing of the past.
    Steph1710
@ThomasF what a lovely way to look at it. :)

Sorry to hear about your ear infection. Definitely one of the biggest fears I have. Hope you get it taken care of with no issue. My three year anniversary with all this crap is coming up in June. Here's to hoping we see some improvement.
    RishRamsey
Sorry to hear that @GoatSheep. How long have you had H? And do you know what that setback was in November?

Sorry just seeing your comment. Noxacusis for three years. I went into a record store playing music at a "safe" dB level by typical standards. Unfortunately it wasn't safe for my tolerance.
Seeing a lot of my friends getting married and starting new lives while I sit here in silence with my earmuffs on feels weird.
    TheDanishGirl
Indeed. I now know what its like to be a prisoner with a life sentence. Even that would be an upgrade though, cause they can socialize and maybe be in silence sometimes.
    Damocles
    Yeah, I've been here before.

There's a point you reach where you just stop caring, and then you laugh thinking of the inevitable misery those marriages will end in, while you continue to remain unanswerable to anyone and enjoy your boxset of "Fresh Meat".
    Lurius
I'm in the same situation. A good friend is moving to Spain to get married, they are fucking like crazy now to make her pregnant asap and then I won't see her again. My best friend is already on full family mode, basically almost everyone I know has the A4 life with kids and wife. I'm not saying I neccesarily want that but it would feel better to HAVE THE OPTION.
Second ear infection in as many weeks. Don't know why. Earplugs/ Earmuffs to blame? Feeling defeated :/
    Damocles
Yeah, @RishRamsey. Foam ones are the most hygienic. I've never had an infection from using foam. However it's still possible by wearing them too long, because you're then creating a sweaty, anaerobic environment inside the ear, which is perfect for certain bacteria that can cause problematic infections.
    Damocles
If you ever switch to silicon plugs (which are way more comfortable for long periods of use, and better for understanding conversation etc.) make sure to wash them with anti-bacterial or alcohol wipes after every use.

Also like @Steph1710 said, give them a clean in warm water with a sterile solution, every couple of weeks.
    RishRamsey
Noted @Damocles. I think what helps foam earplugs being hygienic is that you dispose them after every use. I've been guilty of using a single pair more than once - won't do it now.
Hyperacusis back to being severe. Construction at neighbour's house leading up to this :/. I hate this life.

Hey Rish, my H spiked recently too after visiting my family for a week. It'll go back down in time. Hope it'll be quick for you.
    RishRamsey
Hey @James1977 Hopefully. The construction still hasn't stopped and dread each day. I guess the healing won't start until it goes down. Thanks for your wishes, and really glad to hear yours went down.
    RishRamsey
@Stacken77 Pain H unfortunately, the worst kind :'(
Got COVID in early May - still suffering from symptoms. Looks like long haul - another thing to worry about, such rarity and bad luck.
    LilSass
Praying that your symptoms resolve soon! My dumbass neighbor gave me and my husband covid. She's a PSW who thinks she's a nurse - like, don't knock on my door if you aren't feeling well! Sorry for the rant...You will get better, but it will take some time. Stay strong!
    RishRamsey
    RishRamsey
Arghh that's so frustrating @LilSass. Same happened to me, our neighbourhood's dumbass security man came to work even with COVID and gave me COVID while not wearing a mask roaming in the streets. Thanks for your wishes though, still waiting to get better - hope you're doing well.
Very bad COVID situation in my country (India) right now. No hospital beds, ICUs, ventilators or oxygen cylinders. Scared to my core :(
    Steph1710
What a horrible/scary situation. Hope you're able to stay safe.
    Tezcatlipoca
Stay safe brother, I wish you and your family the best of luck.
    LilSass
Saying prayers for you and your family. Stay as safe as you can! *hugs*
Doing really bad, again. I don't know where I got this setback from.
    twa
So very sorry, hang in there. Hopefully, it's just a temporary set-back and will be better very soon. ~twa
Happy belated Birthday! I just had my birthday one week ago - to think at this time last year I was in decent health (aside from migraines) makes me sad. Since I turned 45 it's been downhill...still kinda grieving for my old life. Hopefully the future will be better! :)
    RishRamsey
Thank you @LilSass , and happy belated birthday to you too. I guess the only think I hope for is to at least make it till 30 in a not worse situation that I am in currently.
Here's to hoping the future will be better, or if not, then same and not any worse.
All I want to do is stay drugged and sleep throughout the day in a room away from civilisation. A dark and cold place would be preferable

Oh I wish I could send you more help than words, I'd trade places with you emotionally if I could, give you my happiness. Have you read any of my posts about the paper I typed up to brainstorm who I was, my identity, aside from the pain? That was the turning point in my depression, it took a weight off my shoulders heavier than Atlas' burden. I hope it eases soon
    RishRamsey
@Tavia R Yes, I did read it. It was amazing. Thank you! Emotionally, I am okay I guess. But at the end of the day, I just get some exhausted from this pain that even moving in my bed is hard. I have kind of accepted it, but still, it just hurts so much.
    RishRamsey
And I am glad to see you're doing well, even if emotionally :)
Reading all the chronic pain stories on reddit and wondering how much longer I could carry on.
    Christiaan
Hi @RishRamsey , I am sorry you go through all this. If it gives you any comfort, RL-81 might give you some relieve. The precursor Trobalt helped some people on this forum with pain hyperacusis. the new medicine will have more effect. Hang in there buddy!
Dear god, please don't let me kill myself before I turn 30. I only ask for another 5.5 years(and try to make those 5.5 years easier)
I guess it's time to accept I am never gonna recover from severe hyperacusis.
    A
Hang on in there Rish! This stuff is the devil's work, but we never know what tomorrow may bring. Let's hope for improvement.
    Tavia R
Sometimes when we realize the pain won't back off we have to decide if we're going to. It's not an inspirational pep talk - that crap is for fantasies and sports, this is real. It's okay to be tired, it's okay to break down or throw things and lose yourself for a bit. Just know you're going to make it through this. I know because you've made it through everything so far, that's a pretty good tract record.
Lost my ability to relax and get relief from Severe H due to fucking irritating earworms. Doing bad mentally :(
