@BB23 Hi there! I am going to Stanford in December, hopefully they can tell me more but my audiogram I did in town showed normal hearing, but I don't think she did an extended test to check for high frequency hearing loss.
Ask for otoacustic emissions as well. My case is similar to yours although a little more complicated since it involves multiple drugs. But I have perfect hearing with all the outer hair cells intact. It's either the synapses for me or some brain related stuff...
We have different causes, but my first habituation improvement wasn't remotely notable until 18 months. Took 3 years to perfect. It's gone for now. Give it time.
- I feel the same but you have to throw in a - ya never know. Always a bit of hope that it might change for the better. Just a sprinkle of hope. A sliver. A small pinch. Anything greater then zero hope.
@SarahMLFlemmer I did. Took 18 months to see progress. At 3 years it was really good. Lasted for two years and lost it. Now back where I started in 2018. Not taking it well. I think Covid possibly played a role.
@SarahMLFlemmer Don't underestimate habituation. I wasn't cured, but it was darn close. Was living a totally normal life outside avoiding loud environments. Wouldn't hear it for long periods. Could turn off like a switch when I did hear it. Hoping I have strength to get back there again. Not sure I do.
