I've tried with and without the "thousands of crickets" sound. I keep my semi-masking sound low so that it's peaceful - not full masking. It's more of a blend. Gabapentin is on my list to potentially bring up to dr. I haven't mentioned it to him as noted earlier. I figured he would steer me toward Buspirone, but now I think I have nerve pain behind my shoulder.

@RunningMan
I am interested in trying buspirone as a potential treatment option. I'll do some research on it.
RunningMan
It helps some people for anxiety, but it could actually hurt sleep, can worsen tinnitus, can take weeks to take effect, & can cause weight gain. I personally know someone taking it who says it helps after upping the dose, but it's for a lower level of anxiety than I'm suffering. I chose the SSRI over it last visit, that caused stomach pain. Lorazepam was originally supposed to be as-needed.

Fair aside from a record 6 hours of TTTS thumps early yesterday. Stomach discomfort, anxiety, sleep about the same but skipped Lorazepam for 3 days now. It's a squealing T day, but I'm handling it ok. Did you check into Buspirone?

Mertz is working well for me now that my body has adjusted. I am starting to like it. I don't usually enjoy most medications, but I gave it a chance, and it seems to be working. A dosage of 3, 4, or 5mg is sufficient, and I haven't had to increase it. It would work well for you and improve your quality of life.
Supersix
Mertz provides a more natural sleep experience, so I really like it. It may take up to two weeks to get used to it, but it's worth sticking with it. Even though it feels like Mertz could increase the volume of my tinnitus, it doesn't seem to actually do so. This could be due to the power of the mind - if we expect it to make our tinnitus louder, it might seem that way.

Mirtazapine concerns me based on the feedback on tinnitustalk, but it's on my list to talk to my dr about, but anxiety is a bigger issue for me than sleep.
Supersix
I appreciate Mirtz because even on a low dose, I can sleep for seven hours. Although I do wake up a few times during the night, I can easily fall back asleep within half an hour or even sooner. Generally, the lower the medication dosage, the fewer side effects you will experience. I have Zolpidem, I prefer Mirtz over that,

My biggest issue is anxiety, too; now that I'm sleeping better, it's not as bad. The Klonopin works well. I have backed off since the Mirtz is helping me fall asleep faster.Im excited because this is the 1st medicine out 7 different ones that works well for me

Today is a good day for me. T is in its hissy state, and I took Lorazepam & Zolpidem at 5:15 AM. I think I got about 7 1/2 hours sleep, and anxiety is low. I could handle every day being like this, even though I still hear my T all the time. But alas, I know it's short lived.

I read a post elsewhere from someone that said he had insomnia from college to retirement and tried every sleep med and eventually was prescribed 300mg gabapentin 1/2 hr before bedtime and that it was the first one that works for him to get a good night sleep. He said was prescribed about 2 years ago.

I have some Gabapentin. I took it once as a test, 100mg in the afternoon, and it made me feel relaxed. Although I liked the effects, it was hard on my stomach due to my GERD condition. I did fall asleep easily that night. If Remeron stops working at a low dose I might give it another shot,
RunningMan
Oh, that stomach comment concerns me. Stomach pain is why I stopped Sertraline and then Lexapro months ago, and I still have the pains, only adding to my suffering when I was looking for relief. So it's always a concern some other med could worsen it.
Supersix
Gabapentin helps with IBS. It didn't give me pain. I was dealing with a flair-up of acid when I took it. It might have irritated it, but I wouldn't hesitate to try again.
RunningMan
That's good. I'm not sure what the issue is with my stomach. Ice water can be temporarily soothing. Antacids, Pepcid, PPI's, Pepto, and ginger seem ineffective. But it started during SSRIs and continues. That's just making my anxiety worse. I'll be seeing my Dr. soon, assuming I can get in soon.
Supersix
I have not experienced any side effects from Remeron. Moreover, it is gentle on my digestive system.
Supersix
I understand what you are dealing with. I'm going in for another upper GI to attach a device to my esophagus to measure the level of Acid. Dealing with T and gut issues is challenging
RunningMan
Some comments on Mirt on TT scare me. When I took Nortriptyline 50mg for months over a year ago, I had about 5 episodes that felt like terrible acid reflux that left me in pain for a while about 20 minutes after taking the pill near bedtime, seemingly connected to eating something late. But it never bothered my stomach. It didn't help my anxiety, though. I may have an get an upper GI.

Well, I have gerds and scaring on my lower esophagus and lost 30 lbs from acid reflux. I can tell you what medicines trigger acid reflux. Almost all do. Ambien was probably the worst of them. It will relax my lower sphincter and cause acid to rise. If you take medication at night, eat half or a whole piece of bread beforehand and wait for half an hour before lying down.
