  • A car alarm also went off during my sleep, and my tinnitus has mimicked that for a few days now.
I cannot WAIT to move out. Got woken up by someone vacuuming for the second time in the week. When it's not vacuums, it's alarms. I rarely have a full night of sleep; it's insane.
I get a tingling sensation from my cheekbone to above my lips when i'm exposed to too much sound. It's not painful but it's annoying. I used to get that when i was very stressed or when my tmj is very bad.
    Does anyone else have that?

@Scruffiey probably just stress as I do not have (visible) hearing loss! I always thought my tmj damaged my nerve, but the tightening hypothesis makes much more sense

@Nes Could just be the TMJ, but I'm thinking if it was nerve damage you'd be getting more actual numbness than just tingling and possibly some pain or cold/warmth.
Guess one way to test it... once it's settled down, purposefully tense up your face for a minute or two and see if it's the same feeling?

@Scruffiey IT IS! Why did I never think of that!
Well, i don't think i'll be able to get out of my protections in my house. Constant vacuum and power tool noises today. Yesterday got blasted with a high pitch pure tone coming out of nowhere. Looking to move out

So sorry. Same for me. Constant cars going by and family. Love them so much but they can be loud.
Trying to stop wearing earmuffs in my home. The psychological aspect is hard to overcome ! On a good note, my reactive tinnitus is a bit less reactive.
    S
Try sticking some cotton wool in your ears, it's a little bit of defence without too much rebound when you take it out, plus it's a fairly comforting feeling.

But I'd still wear the muffs in the kitchen my self, better safe than sorry!
Hello Nes! Does clonazepam help you?
    Nes
Hello! So far I took only two 0.25mg pills. It does help me sleep. It prevents me waking up from the tinnitus. I still wake up but I don't notice the tinnitus so I fall back asleep. The first time I got a very quiet day, but since i also got my period on the same day, I'm not sure which caused which.

@Alberte also worth noting that I was prescribed clonazepam for my sleep issues and restless legs syndrome/muscle spasms. For those issues, the clonazepam is working perfectly fine
I'd like to apologise to the moderators who have to correct all my broken english posts. Sorry :sorry:
I finally got clonazepam prescribed instead of clorazepate! I really hope it will help spikes

    Do sudden sounds hurt you?
    Nes
@adpolandam no. White/fan/Ac noises give me tingling nerve pain in my face though
My noiseless pc setup using a steam deck is up and ready ! This console has been the best thing i bought in 2024
    Varda
Some of the PC cases produced by Fractal Design have sound dampening material lining the inside.

@Lurius I will probably make a post with the specifics (comments are way too short) , but I use sunshine and moonlight to stream my pc to my deck, which is connected to a monitor. It works surprisingly well with 0 latency

@Lurius another solution I've stumbled upon and which is my end goal is to use thunderbolt with a kvm extender and optical display port cables to use directly the pc from another room. More expensive and requires cables to run across all appartement, but better quality
Huuuge mold issue in my room. It explains why my nose felt stuffed. Might have something to do with the slightly increased tinnitus of those past
2 days. At least I hope.
Ironic : my Brain filters out the sound enrichment I use at night because it's too busy focusing on tinnitus. Took me 20min to realize it was still running
My ears popped the other day and the tinnitus disappeared for 1s?! Reactivity and sensitivity have been way down since. WTH happened????
Oh irony, I say it gets better just for it to get worse the next day. It just got higher pitched for no reason
Almost 6 months in. I'm getting more and more good days and I'm learning things about my T. Prolonged low noise spike me badly...
    Did your march spike subside?
    Nes
It kind of did, then I got 2 more spikes during that time. My march spike was due to stress definitely, it took 2 weeks to get down. Then I got another one due to a vacuum which did get down a bit but introduced a new sound which lasts even today. I got one last spike from a bus ride at the beginning of June which started going down last week. Hope that helps
