  • DH moved the pots & pans. When I reached into the cabinet, the pile came crashing clattering down so loud.

I just dropped a glass plate and it shattered... I've never done that before...

@Bill Bauer I hope it wasn't too loud. I was okay after my kitchen mishap. I find that the shock combined with the noise can make it hard to know how loud it really was.

It didn't sound Too loud. I will find out soon enough what my T thinks about it...
Did my T get worse today? I've had scares before, but I fear this may not be a mere scare.

A truck pulled up next to me and the brakes screeched so loudly. Even though it only lasted a moment, it was extremely loud and high-pitched. Often it happens that something like this just "unhabituates" me, but this time my T seems objectively louder.

I hate when that happens. The other day there was this loud unexpected Harley motorcycle that pulled up next to me with the exhaust taken off. Some people are really inconsiderate.
Some kind of construction across the street. All day every day high-pitched beeps of a truck. How can a truck ONLY go backwards?

    Even on Saturdays and Sundays!

Well, this is not going to be a brief project. They're putting up scaffolding. They come everyday (weekends included) and start making a racket at 8AM.
Dh is playing different car alarm sounds on his phone. I want to take his phone and throw it out the window. He's so obnoxious.
Taking a break from TT. There are some lovely people here, but there are also toxic people who like hurting the vulnerable.

I'm fighting a battle with thoughts that are not real and I don't need people trying to push me over the edge. Last night I lost control briefly and for a few minutes I completely believed the thoughts. I screamed twice in absolute horror (3 to 4 seconds each) and now I am afraid I worsened my T.

What were the thoughts, if you don't mind me asking?

Every forum I have been to has these people. It is sad but true. They prey on the weak. They are wolves in sheeps clothing. It is good you are aware.
Sometimes I can't tell the difference between sounds which are dangerously loud and sounds which are just god-awful.
Dear ear: I'm sorry I was careless & let the door slam. Who knew it could be that LOUD? Are you going to punish me forever now with worse T?
I wish I could retire to a beautiful tropical island. Sit on the beach & listen to the ocean. Or lounge on a verandah overlooking a garden.

Lots of organic fruits & veggies to eat, fragrant herb. Good books to read. Me in my sarong & sandals. Book in one hand, cup of tea in the other. Peace, quiet, & serenity for my troubled mind and ear.
Since February there's been a hum in (or outside) my building. On & off (mostly on). Whatever it is, it makes my T impossible to ignore.
My upstairs neighbors got a puppy. I hear the poor little thing whining. I think they left it alone all day. I think it must be in a cage :(
    SugarMagnolia
This is driving me crazy. I hear his pathetic little cries and I can't comfort him. What kind of idiot gets a puppy, cages it, and leaves it all alone?
    cspc
    That's a good question.
    SugarMagnolia
I think the puppy may have been a temporary guest because I heard him for a few days and then I didn't hear him anymore. Or else the people were told by management that dogs are not allowed in the building. I hope the puppy has a safe and happy home!
I wore my ear muffs for the first time. Vacuumed two rooms. It seemed like good noise reduction, but my T is more annoying now.
    Dylan Blake
Hmmm, are You using noise cancelling earphones or actual Ear muffs?
    SugarMagnolia
Ear muffs. I had an acoustic trauma from a phone and since then I would never use ear buds, head phones, or a phone pressed to my ear. I would never pump sounds directly into my ear. One phone call changed my life.

Not saying You have to, just suggestions to help stem off stress from Tinnitus.
Think living on a cul-de-sac is quiet? Think again! Another truck blundered down here and it's beeping its way through a laborious K-turn.
