  • How is your TMJ symptoms lately? hopefully its improved seems you've not been on here in a very long time. :)
    H
Just had my first night in my night guard after the TMJD diagnosis
    S
I've got one but I still wake up with a sore jaw and clenched shut. Waiting on a TMJ referral but with NHS it's gonna take forever.
Randomly started hearing a super high pitched tone ew :/ here's hoping it goes away after some sleep
I found out someone I know has Ménière's & severe tinnitus today; he's also mostly deaf. Hearing problems are just the worst, wow
    LilSass
You should advise them to see an upper cervical chiropractor - it is known to help if not completely relieve symptoms. :)

(How) do they cope? Do you know?
Hi, i read about your spike from the fire alarm on the November. I was wondering, have you fully recovered from it?
    astaff14
Hey! Yes, I'd consider myself fully recovered. My tinnitus is still a little worse than it was overall, but hyperacusis doesn't bother me anymore, and I live my life normally again. :)
Today, someone dropped a pallet next to me. It immediately lowered my T. What the hell?
    aot
Ugh. I fucking hate pallets. I hope you're okay.

@Steph1710 it was!!! It's doing okay, my ears have been a little full for a few days but I have also been using earphones so it's likely that. Gonna take it easy on em for now! :)
    astaff14
@aot same!!! I always try to avoid the back room bc of them and everyone always being careless but as we all unfortunately know you can't always avoid loud noise!
Hi, can I ask are you a chef?
    astaff14
Hello! I'm not a chef, I work in a kitchen at a big grocery store so I do make food though
Hey, I saw that your T and Hypercusis came from a botched ear irrigation.

If you don't mind, could you tell me more about that?

My T is probably noise induced but I've been getting my ears checked to be sure. I just had my ears irrigated and it was a bit unpleasent, but the doctor said that he's certain that the earwax was the problem, and that I'm gonna be fine. Getting my hearing tested later this week.
@astaff14 I tried lipo flavonoids, and they actually helped a little bit, but they made my heart beat too fast, so I stopped taking them. I'm almost deaf in my T ear, so I might try a hearing aid. Maybe that'll help.
    astaff14
I'm sorry about the heart beating too fast effect! That sounds awful. I'd guess with that a hearing aid probably would help!!
Well, drinking seems to lower my T a bit. How fun
    aot
How lucky, lol. Be careful not to go overboard. unfortunately, I haven't found any food or drink that lowers mine. But then again, I'm not much of a drinker.
    astaff14
@aot haha yeah I'm sure T with a hangover is absolutely awful I didn't have too much, just enough to feel it and have it raise my mood. Have you tried any supplements? I'm not either honestly, I also hadn't drank at all since my t spike, so I was a bit nervous.
Coworker dropped a giant metal bowl right next to me, ears feel swollen & muffled hearing. Can't wait to see how my t is tmrw ha ha ha
Love starting off the day with 5 police cars and 2 fire trucks blaring 5 feet away. How do they all not have awful T?
    aot
Oh no! I'm very sorry to hear that, Astaff. What was going on? Is everything ok now?
    astaff14
@aot thank you! not sure what was going on, but I was waiting at a bus stop when they all came right by. Even with ear plugs and hands over my ears the sound just cut right through me! I hate it. My ears are a little sensitive and T a little louder, but I'm dealing alright. Hope you're ok too!
Damn I never realized how loud the gym is. People dropping their weights left and right, smh
    A
Yeah, it is loud. Until 2 years ago i was a regular gym goer and used relatively heavy weights doing deadlifts. The sound from dropping that would reverberate around the gym. Gladly I gave up the gym before getting tinnitus. But now I am fat. Can't win.
    Deamon22
I use foam earplugs for the gym since I got tinnitus, no problems for me.
    astaff14
@all to gain it rlly does reverberate, i was shocked. i was over in the room with only cardio equipment mostly and the sound was ridiculous! im glad i wore ear plugs, even with them it was fairly harsh. lol ive gained weight recently that's why i went, i don't usually. once it's warm i think ill stick to running in quiet areas
Man, I miss using earphones. Even just not using them has lowered my quality of life unbelievably lol.
    astaff14
@Agrajag364 lmaooo hey whatever works right? when im closing @ work ill put my phone in my shirt pocket and listen to music like that! better than nothing
    astaff14
@Kriszti it really sucks! and to think earphones probably contributed to a lot of people's tinnitus. I have always wondered how hearing aid with masker function are any different than earphones
    astaff14
@Shaz1 I feel that :/ I'd use them as such a comfort crutch, and now listening to music so much less just sucks. Don't be too hard on yourself, most of us only learn about possible damages after we already have hearing problems!
I hate my life. Stereo system is broken at work and it's making a high pitch squeal, literally can't do my job I can't do it
    RishRamsey
So sorry to hear that - call in sick for work today? Say that you are not feeling well or something and get back home?
    astaff14
@RishRamsey thank you. noises like that are seriously panic inducing for me now! I told my managers that I wouldn't be able to do my job if it wasn't fixed and they were able to somehow, I think they disabled the audio to the kitchen so I was able to get on ok but it did come back on a couple times throughout the day. So awful.
    JohnAdams
that sucks. what a fucking nightmare
Sounds like screeching brakes today. It's faint but if this keeps up I don't think I can cope
Christ my ringing is so loud and crazy. I smoked a little and it's absolutely insane. Hope sleep takes it away
    aot
    Cannibus actually makes T worse.
    astaff14
It really does. When I had milder t I would smoke every day and be fine, now it makes it go from about a 3 to a 9. Gives me 7-8 tones too. Those have gone away after sleeping, but it's still louder unfortunately.
Can't escape stupid loud noises. Dropped my PS4 controller and my ear is all swollen now. Seriously?
Scared, had a pot slam at 93 dB and a car door slam both after I'd (stupidly!) smoked weed. Ear is a little swollen and t is louder
Bout halfway thru my first shift and my ears are swollen and I feel spike-y but I think it's bc I've worn plugs all day & had to talk w them
