  • Just wondering if anyone could fill me in with anything in research, any new drug companies trying to tackle hearing loss or tinnitus treatments
any hearing regeneration news? I still my heart broken from the news last year, both companies failed. and I've been out of loop
Hey, I noticed you posted a lot a while back about having Palinacousis. I seem to have developed this and just wondering if yours settled down or if you found anything that helped? Thanks!
    in_LA
Hi, yes it definitely got better but also took a few months to get better, mine was more with loud Basy music, what helped me was some supplements like NAC, magnesium, and calming my nerves, it was very stressful in the beginning. How did yours began? Mine a few days after a loud show and infection
    ZFire
I used to mask my tinnitus with fans, now I get chatter and weird noises, hoping distortions will go away eventually.
    Ngo13
I had this and ended up having fluid in my ears that turned into an infection. I don't know if you've been checked out but doesn't hurt.
    in_LA
@Mo8409 Thanx, it's slightly better today, I had some ear drops i was prescribed for inflammation 2 months ago, and it made a small difference
    in_LA
@Ngo13 I recently was at the ENT and found nothing, I was prescribed fluticasone and don't like the way my eras react to it, don't know if I should try it again
Does your fan or other electric appliances create chatter or other sounds like a radio?
    Mo8409
Fans make my Tinnitus louder. So I can't really mask it because it reacts.
    Tryn2BHopeful
    Fans are the devil
Ever since my recent set back, I can always hear chatter from fans and some other appliances, that would only happen when my Palinacousis
I went from basic Palinacousis to MUSICAL EAR SYNDROME BECAUSE OF THIS ESR INFECTION, IM HOPING IT GOES BACK TO BASELINE WHEN BETTER
Someone please answer, how do i know if i have musical ear syndrome? I don't hear bells, voices
    Mo8409
Isn't musical ear where you can hear noises. Like if you hear a bird chip then you'll hear it in your head and etc.
Can palinacousis turn into musical ear syndrome or do I have variable tinnitus? I have recently developed sounds that were not there befor
Sad to inform everyone that i have pre diabetes and fatty liver, though my liver is in excellent shape.
    CW Dragon
sorry to hear that, man. I may have Celiac's sadly - but would take having that over T 100x over.
Does anyone know someone who had BPPV who hasn't had it in years or hasn't had an episode since the first one?
    U
Me. I got it a few months ago from using CPAP. Did the Epley manoeuvre and it went away, Hasn't come back.
    in_LA
@Uklawyer dude it one yesterday and it kinda worked for me the one that helps the most is half sommesault
    U
Not sure what that one is, but do whatever helps. I'm happy it helped me - hopefully you'll sort it out.
I'm pretty sure I have BPPV and I'm devastated, i was getting the feeling of head rocking, now it constantly feels like I'm a boat
    sakrt
@in_LA This seems to have happen same time with your fatty liver diagnosis? Feel you need to update you PCP. There is info. online to try yourself under ear crystals, epley maneuver to try yourself, (which takes time). Drink lots of water too.
    in_LA
@sakrt been drinking lots of water, i tried the Wiley and it kinda helped half somersault is what worked for me so far
Great just friggin great, now i have fatty liver, fml
    in_LA
@Marshall from eating too much good stuff, i gotta go on a diet, and sadly will always have to watch myself.
    in_LA
@ZFire hey bro my ears haven't changed too much from 2 weeks ago, still taking NAC and I'm hoping I'll be better by next year, what about you?
    Marshall
Gotta go with a healthy lifestyle. Maybe T was a Sign..??

I know bad health can 100% make T worse. You got this man!!
One last update, yesterday my brain could stop thinking about music, it wasn't palinacousis doing this though, musical obsession?
    Marshall
Used to happen to me every morning until i got T. But it's starting to happen again so i think that means i'm bothered by t less and less
    in_LA
@Marshall I'm glad your t bothers you less, and hopefully it goes away completely. Yeah I remember i could always hear my thoughts and now it seems my brain wants more music,i used to always have headphones before so maybe that's whymy brain miss music.
    Marshall
I like to think when I'm playing music in my head it's like filler for not wanting to actually think lmao
And now I find myself stressed over it, and it's has to be extremely quiet for me to notice it, yet I'm still consumed by anxiety
    ZFire
Try not to stress bro.I've had many tinnitus tones and noise come and go.
    in_LA
@ZFire thanx for the comment bro, i hope this is the case, today in the lobby I couldn't hear it so that's good, just my good ol T lol
I know i should be grateful for not having debilitating T however there's a new sound coming from my left ear that wasn't there before
So I had my MRI results came back, and I'm totally normal which is good of course, but that still doesn't resolve my issue and I'm sad.
    L
Could you tell me how loud the MRI was? Was it a 3T device?
    in_LA
@Labyrinthine my MRI was loud but was able to wear double ear protection, it was a Philips 3T machine, make sure if you get one to wear double ear protection.
    L
So considering it's loudness, it was tolerable with double protection? What body part was scanned in your case?
Anyone know if all the hearing loss treatments in the horizon are going to happen at all? Have their trials worked?
    in_LA
@ZFire bro I'm beginning to suspect shores device might end up being vaporware, it's taken forever and their funding has been inconsistent, but I could be wrong, do you know when they're supposed to release it?
    in_LA
@ZFire not going to lie I was hoping hearing regeneration would've had some good results in trials by now, but as you said it'll probably be another 10 years before it reaches the market.
    ZFire
@in_LA , regarding shore's device, your guess is good as mine…
So yesterday I got my MRI done, i was able to wear double protection, i doubt they'll find anything, but got to make sure.
    in_LA
@ZFire my palinacousi is very inconsistent, lately I've been taking music home but it's definitely deminished and less intrusive, but still noticeable, since they play Basy loud music at work for 8 hours my ears I guess have a timer of how much they can take before the music is triggered.
    in_LA
@CW Dragon how did your accoustic trauma happen? Make sure if you go to an MRI that you can use double protection, and ask for a queit mode for the MRI,some machines have it.
    CW Dragon
The worst thing you can do to your ear, impulse noise from a firecracker about a meter in front of me. Damaged my left ear but my right remained the same for some God forsaken reason. I got 32db rated ear foam plugs, but I'm not sure how effective they are since I keep forgetting the scale is logarithmic. Will use my trusty ear muffs too
Decided not to go to my mri this Monday, the help told me even the quiet mode is loud and it's a Philips model too, and no double protection
    I hate palinacousis so much!!
    ZFire
Yeah tell me about out it bro. There's no decency or regard for us.
    ZFire
How long does your palinacousis usually last for?
    in_LA
@ZFire sorry for the late reply, my palinacousis usually lasts about 3 hours at its loudest, after that, it'll get fainter but still annoying. Though I haven't had seriously loud ones In 2 weeks which is nice, still I hate vents and fans when I get even minor ones cause they produce music or chatter.
Ever since coming back from my Arizona trip, I can always pop my ears at any time, is this normal? I didn't always had this, is this ETD?
    in_LA
@ZFire right, do you have ETD? If so does it get better?
    ZFire
It's gotten better overtime. Still not where it needs to be, but far better than a year ago.
    in_LA
@ZFire i sometimes have good days and bad days, my ears will wake up achy, or simply irritated somewhat, like today, not extremely bad but definitely noticeable.
I have an appointment for Dr Hugh's ear institute in a few weeks, I'm praying that they'll have a treatment for palinacousis.
hey man thanks for checking up on me bro, means alot.
I see your getting a brain mri, i too am having other health issues,
PRE TINNITUS IN 2013 this wouldnt of even been an issue, i
would simply get a CT, mri, like 1,2,3, but because of tinnitus...but i hear they allow ear protection so i will see.....if only susan shore or someone would hurry up N give us our freedom lol
    in_LA
Bro it's sad my T is under control but my palinacousis drives me mad, I'm afraid of the mri but I'm still going, want to make sure nothing is wrong. Btw what state are you in?
Anyone had an mri done in Los Angeles? Looking for the quieter mri, and don't know where to go, I need to protect my ears too Anysuggestions
    kingsfan
@in_LA I have, but it was back in 2010 when I had no issue with sound and still playing gigs and clubbing regularly. I still remember it being LOUD.
    kingsfan
@in_LA I would not get one now with tinnitus unless I was having obvious signs of a brain issue, like slurred speech.
    X
Its loud and I would only do it again in the next 5 years when my life would depend on it. However if you want to have peace of mind that nothings wrong with your brain then do it.
Getting a brain mri, how do protect myself? Where can I get ear muffs that will fit an mri machine? I want to double protect.
    kingsfan
peltor x5a and x4a are all plastic and should work. you can get them on amazon
    in_LA
@kingsfan the thing is it's a brain mri so I can't wear earmuffs and I'm trying to double protect, I don't wanna take loud noises home. Is there a way I can do this?
    Marshall
Foam earplugs coupled with sleeping earplugs plus the muffs they give you
