  • I'm trying so hard but just seek to be getting worse. Also how did you start reintroducing noise? If you can remember how much you suffered and were desperate for help then please could you get back to me! Thank you

It just starting getting better, could listen to TV a little louder, could go outside without earplugs. I just said I'm doing stuff in reason and did it
Hey, sorry I know you said that your H improved out of nowhere once your stress reduced. I'm just wondering how you managed to get your stress under control when you were only getting worse, two years in etc, confined to your room?
Sorry this is quite personal, but do you have kids or a family? How did your family, work etc cope with you staying in one room most of the time?
    Rockman
They were very understanding, I do have a kiddo. He was always alert to my problem and did his best not to be really loud. Family were supportive, never said oooo get over it your faking it anything like that. If anything besides your ears are stressing you out, you got to get rid of it! My ears hurt more when I had stress, toxic people will cause this.
My favorite is the native American flute relaxing. Takes weight off your chest
    S
Same here. Native flute music just has one of the most calming feels too it.

I just downloaded it. It has a ton of sounds, very nice all of them
I highly recommend ambience sound app. It has rocks stacked as it's picture. I have pretty bad H and could find many different sounds
    TheDanishGirl
That's the only one I use. You can combine so many sounds, and adjust the volume. I bought it to avoid ads (it's cheap!) I even added some self-recorded sounds that I mixed with some of the app sounds. It's the best sound generator app that is out there.

Let me know if anyone gives it a try
How about that Kings/Wild game last night?!?
    CW Dragon
Ooh a Wild fan also here. Gosh I wish my Wings were still in the Western conference (dominating it as always). I better hope no Avs fans here... Anyway, GL tomorrow night, Kings at Wings

Wowzers. We need goalies! Exciting game though
What are the most comfortable muffs? The x5a get a little clumsy and make my ears hurt
    kingsfan
X5a are way too clunky. I use the x4a, usually with plugs underneath.

You could try some headphones that have good noise cancelling features. I'm not sure how good they are though but for sure comfy
    Nadia231
Yes @SmallRonnie I have X5 Peltor for home as they are too bulky. Then I got a pair of noise cancelling headphones which are meant to be for music obviously, but I wear them everywhere and they cancel out lots of noise.
Anybody get head pain. Example if you drop a spoon on the floor while wearing muffs? Doesn't hurt the ears but the center of my brain
    CRGC
A lot of my delayed pain from H centers around my head. Goes from a dull ache in the ear towards the jaw and the head. When it's bad I can get nauseous from it.
    Hi Rockman,

Did you ever figure out an idea that works safely for taping padding for ear muffs to minimize the impact into walls and hard things coming quickly at them?

    Warm regards,

I never did. I'm just way more cautious about moving around things. The peltot x5a. Doesn't cause near the loud bangs when bumped into things
    TheIncident
Thank you for letting me know. I appreciate it a lot @Rockman
Ears started popping and a feeling of them opening up. Like unclogging. I only listened for about 5 mins. It's called Beltone tinnitus app
I use to listen to babbling Brook sounds every night while sleeping. Had to stop. But tonight just sitting here I mixed Brook with crickets.
Bathroom fan is the worst for me. I can across the house with the door closed and it still drives my ear crazy . Problem is it doesn't stop
    Marshall
    Reactivity is ass
    Rockman
Man alive! If it stopped when the sounds do probably wouldn't be as bad. But it lingers for hours
Fellow reactive t people. Sounds drive it crazy but you know aren't harmful. Do you listen to it or run for the hills?
    ZFire
A bit of both. But mostly just listening to it. There's no way I can run away from sounds that trigger reactivity where I live. I Deal with it and hope it stops sometime in the future
    MindOverMatter
Agree with what @ZFire said. Unless your LDL is so low, and you get physical pain of sounds like fans and such, there is no point in covering up imo. It will only make you more sensitive. With time it tends to get better.
Maybe I'm just weird. But certain sounds hurt my ears, one or both. Than some sounds seem to attack the middle ear, hurts the brain. Oofda
