    L-Theanine and/or GABA Calm?

Hi all, I did some searching and found threads on both of these but nothing that compared them. I did note one that someone took them together. I started taking Magnesium and L-Theanine (100 mg) about 2 weeks ago. Tinnitus has been up and down but there was a period of calm. I do have the GABA...

Spike Driving Me Crazy — Has Any Supplement, Med, Exercise, Device or Anything Helped Your Tinnitus?

Hi all, I've had tinnitus and hyperacusis for many years. The hyperacusis is from MS, that's been over 15 years. The tinnitus has been about 3-4 years now. What have you tried that has helped quieten it? I can find all sorts of ideas but would love to have responses on one thread if possible...

I Took an Antibiotic (Clarithromycin) without Checking First — Now What to Do? Huge Tinnitus Spike

I do have amoxicillin and was thinking I could switch to that. It was a walk-in clinic doctor, and not a good one, unfortunately. It seems like the penicillin based drugs don't cause or harm tinnitus, or am I incorrect on that? Thanks Lauri

I Took an Antibiotic (Clarithromycin) without Checking First — Now What to Do? Huge Tinnitus Spike

I feel like an idiot for not even thinking about the type of antibiotic when it was prescribed. I have a swollen uvula (look that one up lol) and they put me on Clarithromycin. I have taken 3 doses and my tinnitus has spiked like crazy. Kept me up all night and I still didn't link it until after...

Really Bad Spike for No Reason — Could Use Support (Can't Mask Tinnitus)

Hi Michael, My one issue is that my T seems to not be able to be masked (I haven't tried standing in front of a jet engine yet but....). So it's hard to set white noise just below the T because the T seems to turn up with it. I always use white noise, fans, etc. and have since my Hyperacusis...

Really Bad Spike for No Reason — Could Use Support (Can't Mask Tinnitus)

I actually am really good at protecting my ears because of the many years of hyperacusis. I even wear an earplug in the car when I feel like turning up the song volume, not because it is too loud but I don't want to set off the T. Apparently the T doesn't respect all the damn steps I take ;-)

Really Bad Spike for No Reason — Could Use Support (Can't Mask Tinnitus)

Hi all, I do hope some of you are getting ready for the holidays and not being bothered by your tinnitus. Mine has been quite noticeable for 2 1/2 years now. I also have hyperacusis which has been linked to my MS. I do pretty well with it now and rarely have issues. The biggest issue is I...

Depressed to Start with, Now a Huge Spike :(

This one is loud and there is nothing that will mask it. Generally at least when I'm in the shower it will mask it but not anymore. It's high pitched, loud, and no amount of external noise helps at all. I feel like I'm losing my mind. The holidays are awful to start with and all kinds of...

Magnesium... Seems to Be Helping, Questions on Dosing

RaZah that was kind of unnecessary wasn't it? If I took something and it seemed to make things even a tiny bit better isn't it OK that I believe it is working? That is what dealing with T is all about. Finding ways to live with it. If you don't have anything to add perhaps just let the...

Magnesium... Seems to Be Helping, Questions on Dosing

Hi all, I'm pretty shocked but I started the magnesium chelate yesterday at 400 mg and my T is there but quieter today. I took it at night as I read through the forums and people mentioned it was a sleep aid. I did sleep for 4-5 hours so that's a start :) When looking at dosing it looks like...

    Broadband Sound Generators

Hi Dr Nagler, I spoke to Dr Hebert and it will take her 30 days to order these (working for the state adds in a lot of red tape). She did mention that there is an audiologist, Kim Juneau, who has a clinic there (sounds like it is onsite at General Hearing?). Do you know of her? I did an...

    Broadband Sound Generators

You mentioned these in your response to me earlier today. I do not have any hearing loss, I actually hear too well with the hyperacusis. It appears all the the devices I've been shown so far are also hearing aids. I did a search on the internet but only found hearing aids with sound...

TRT Sound Generators Are $$$ — Is It Worth It?

Dr. Nagler I'm disappointed by your response. Not everyone lives in an area where TRT therapy is either available, close, or even heard of. I would think in a community of this size there are people that have done TRT therapy, which is why I came to this board. The response feels very...

TRT Sound Generators Are $$$ — Is It Worth It?

Hi - I guess that my audiologist had a patient with H and the noise generators made it worse for her. She is most concerned with "doing no harm" (right, something most doctor's used to care about). As I leave the country for 3 months (I'll be in Mexico) in 2 weeks she is concerned that if I...

TRT Sound Generators Are $$$ — Is It Worth It?

Perhaps I worded that wrong. She sees people with both but my H is pretty pronounced even though I'm very able to live with it. Her concern is that the TRT sound generator will set off the H. Does that make sense? Thanks

    TRT and Hyperacusis

Hi Dr Nagler, I met with Dr Hebert today and we discussed starting me on devices. She was considering the Oticon but settled on the ReSound Linx as a better choice for me. She was and still is slightly hesitant about me getting them now, 2 weeks before I leave for Mexico for 3 months. Her...

TRT Sound Generators Are $$$ — Is It Worth It?

Wow - I have to admit to being a little surprised at the price tag of almost $3000.00. I guess with hearing aids the 30 day return is fine but with TRT therapy I've been told it takes many months so once you buy them you pretty much own them. Insurance won't cover any of it from what I've been...

Louder and Louder — Can Benzos Help... Or Anything?

Thanks Lynn for responding. I'm really worried about taking Klonopin because I deal with MS fatigue and just getting through the day and working are tiring. Doesn't it make you tired? Does it actually make the T go way or you just don't notice it so much? I was diagnosed with M.S. in 2000...

Louder and Louder — Can Benzos Help... Or Anything?

Hi all, I've had hyperacusis for 15 years due to M.S. but the loud T just started about 3 months ago. It's very high pitched and reactive so nothing seems to mask it. This week it has been awful - sounds like cicadas in my ear (right only) and I'm so edgy. I try to ignore it but I'm just...

Thanks for the replies. Good to have others that have had to travel this awful road. I think one of the issues now, 1MW, is that the docs don't know if this is an M.S. relapse. It's not a recognized one, but then neither was my hyperacusis. I worked with a great audiologist back in CT during...

MS (Multiple Sclerosis) and Tinnitus — Nerve Damage

Hi Chelles, I've had ear spasms before, I'm not currently having them now. With M.S. you often have odd spasms and then usually they go away. It's definitely an odd disease with so many things that "can" happen that it's impossible to count them. That said, often people think they have M.S...
