Can't Find Help? ATA Referrals Wrong?

Hi,

I checked the ATA website and called two somewhat local audiologists but neither really work with tinnitus unless it's to deal with hearing loss and hearing aids. They are both on the ATA site. Am I missing something? I feel like I don't even know where to turn to try to get help.

Does anyone know how to find experts?

Thanks!

Wish I could help. I'm in the same boat. I used their website and then looked at the websites of the referred physicians to see if they know about tinnitus...and finally found someone. In the year 2015, why is it so hard to find an 'expert'.
1) call your gp
2) wait a week to get in
3) gp says "sorry, you need to see an ent" and makes referral
4) referral takes 3 or 4 days to be accepted
5) ent makes an appt. to see you in a week
6) you see ent who says "nothing is wrong with your ear, but if you'd come in earlier we could have prescribed prednisone". By this time its of course been a month.

This is the US healthcare system at its finest level of incompetence.

Hi Craig,

Does the prednisone actually help? I feel like that's the route I'm going to go through as well. The issue is that I have M.S. and I suspect the tinnitus is from that. So it seems like masking or other options will have to be in my future.

Thanks!
