If Hough's pill really is that promising, I find it odd that they can't find investors. There are loads of people with hearing loss. The first one to find a cure (or a significant improvement in hearing) can earn a lot of money.

You might have tonic tensor tympani syndrome. Try to avoid loud noises as much as possible. At the same time, you should still expose your ears to normal sounds.

At least you won't experience a new noise trauma there.

I used to sleep with the TV on for about a year. Never tried to mask it afterwards, even after my last spike.

Absolutely. In the 90s someone died from a gene therapy trial. Funding for gene therapy disappeared almost completely. It took like a decade for scientists to go at it again.

Pharma is only able to raise big bucks when they have a product that shows promise. But you have to find something first. If I'm informed correctly, Frequency's therapy is based off research at Stanford. This fundamental research is so very important and extremely underfunded.

Normally phase 1 is tested on people who don't have the condition that the drug aims to treat. Again, it tests for safety of the drug. But this does seem to be an exception to that rule.

They can't test efficacy while they use the drug on healthy people. Again, unless this trial was an exception.
