Episode 12: Hearing Lost and Found — Frequency Therapeutics

I can't wait for the results of phase 1/2. In my case I've got several different kinds/frequencies of tinnitus (5 to 10 different sounds) on top of hyperacusis, and I'm looking forward to potentially getting rid of most of the worse ones (I "only" had 3 or 4 before SNHL), and I'd also love to...

Sleep Apnea and SNHL & Tinnitus: Need Help with Decision Whether to Use CPAP Device

The number of studies, the fact that there doesn't seem to be much follow-up, nor recognition from the medical community. I'm obviously strongly considering it as a possibility for the cause of my snhl (since I mentioned it at all) but I'm not an expert, nor can anyone definitively tell me that...

Sleep Apnea and SNHL & Tinnitus: Need Help with Decision Whether to Use CPAP Device

Background: I've been diagnosed with sleep apnea, roughly 30 events per hour. I've had sensorineural hearing loss twice, both of which happened during sleep (with increase in general T after each event) Once in a while (maybe once every 1-3 months), I get very loud T in the middle of the night...

    Muscular Tinnitus and 'Ear Fluttering'

So I have had this for a while, and was wondering if it could be related to the hearing loss that I have in the same ear. Could the two be related or is it just a coincidence?

Honestly just went away during the day. I'd suggest isolating yourself from loud noses, wear earplugs if necessary.

Tinnitracks — A New Audio App Claims to Treat Tinnitus

Is there a good notched audio app for Android? All the ones I've seen so far are for iPhone.

    Hello

You get used to it. I often wear earplugs in my right ear when there is a lot of background noise though, but I'm not sure if it's my H or my diplacusis. I think it might be the combination of both, since basically what I hear in crowded places is the equivalent of television static in that ear.

    Hello

I played the piano for over ten years. But the hearing loss measuring was through an audiogram; I went to see an audiologist.

Seems to be gone now. Thankfully it didn't accompany further hearing loss

New Tinnitus and Unusually High-Pitched Diplacusis/Distortion

New T in one ear sounds like a static radio and I'm hearing certain lower pitched sounds resonate at that frequency (probably 4khz+) but I'm mostly deaf around those frequencies in that ear. Anyone have any idea what that is? Edit: I'm counting at least 9 different Ts right now and some of...

Does Anyone Else Physically Feel Their Tinnitus?

I get that too but I don't associate it with T. I mean really just feeling the vibrations from the sound you hear.

    Data Gathering Project

If you find one, let me know :) But the larger goal of this project would be to identify the underlying triggers to T and help find ways to lessen them.

    Data Gathering Project

Excellent idea, and I was thinking of adding something similar to what you have to this app, so definitely welcome. As for the format, I'm open to any, so long as it's simple enough to access using a mobile device (and sound playback can be done without needing the device to be active).

What Would You Be Willing to Give to Have Perfectly Functional Ears?

Oh, well this is in poll form so it's very different. Also I don't think it's counterproductive because it gives us an idea of how much of an effect our ears have on our lives, and what we would be willing to sacrifice in order to get them working again.

I'd be interested to see the responses. You can select multiple. If one answer implies another, only answer the most inclusive.

Tinnitus Loud Enough to Be Heard by Others!

That's impressive. I should have my Ts tested for being heard externally. I've always assumed that they would be internal but seeing as how I've got a similar unilateral hearing loss (though for an unknown reason, not from machinery), I should have my audiologist test for it next time. Could you...

    Data Gathering Project

There are certain questions that can be asked - subjective ones - and an attempt, at least, at gathering objective data, which is theoretically possible. I don't believe that it is particularly difficult a task to have a self survey with some simple questions about daily habits and perceived...

How Much Can a Person Take?

I've had T my entire life and I feel like I was one of the lucky ones to have been habituated to it from birth, as such I have no issues sleeping with it, almost regardless of its volume. When my T got worse (much worse), I already had this "training" to it, so I've never had any issues. My only...

    Data Gathering Project

I was wondering if there were some people here interested in helping to develop a phone/tablet application that would allow us to input certain data points so that they may get collected (and potentially anonymized) and analysed to attempt to correlate causes (eating habits, stress levels...

Does Anyone Else Physically Feel Their Tinnitus?

Mine's an actual sound, I believe it's external T, especially since it's gotten softer since my hearing loss.

Does Anyone Else Physically Feel Their Tinnitus?

I also get a vibrating sound, usually before going to sleep, but it is only in my right ear. I feel as though it's a muscle vibrating somewhere near there, and it only happens if I don't 100% relax my facial and neck muscles.

    Movie Date Concerns

Tinnitus and Hyperacusis are unfortunately lifestyle and quality of life changers. If your partner isn't ok with accommodating you with those lifestyle changes, then you should look elsewhere. Does Anyone Else Physically Feel Their Tinnitus?

It's weird, I feel like it is actually emitting noise from my ear and it is resonating. Like I physically feel like there is air being vibrated in or around my ear canal. Anyone else get that feeling?

Does Mild Hearing Loss "Feel Like" Your Ears Are Clogged?

First hearing loss I had, I thought was because of earwax buildup in my right ear so I went to irrigate it. After nothing changed I went to see an audiologist and found out I had hearing loss in that ear. So yes absolutely a possibility.

How Long Have You Gone Not Thinking About Your Tinnitus?

How Many Different Tinnitus Sounds Do You Hear On Average in Silence?

I'm curious to know. I'm new here so I don't know if this poll was made before, but I think it's specific enough to be different. I'm probably around 6 personally. It's hard to tell, but I think sometimes it's 5 and sometimes it's 7. Some of them blend in really well together and almost sound...
