Indeed - it's the same as you would say one type of pain sensation is the same as any else pain sensation. We know that's not true. There is mild pain, moderate pain, severe pain. Just like there is mild tinnitus, moderate tinnitus, severe tinnitus.
Yes and a significant problem is that these companies selling quack products (which do nothing for tinnitus) use a cover such as "I'm a tinnitus sufferer for 10 years, this product -link here- helped me so much" in an effort to make others think they are not affiliated with the company selling...
Profoundly deaf people can experience tinnitus.
Visual snow is one example of a visual phantom disturbance. Anything sensory related can have phantom experiences.
It boils down to you either not doing it and risking a lifetime of afflicting tinnitus or taking the injections and possibly being cured or reduced for good for real. It isn't a choice ! do it.

I'm pretty sure there is no protocol for it; you just stop when you feel better and don't need the devices anymore...

But aren't shotguns and rifles so loud that not even dual hearing protection (plugs + muffs) might be enough to protect from hearing damage?
