My electroacupuncture was intended to help with T. I feel neutral regarding "standard" acupuncture but I strongly discourage the use of electro-a anywhere near the head. Simply not worth the risk in my book. I so wish I could take it back....yea, I know, join the group...Ha!

None of these studies are blinded or have control groups. They're not very compelling as far as demonstrating that acupuncture does anything for tinnitus. If "laser acupuncture" has a 60% cure rate for tinnitus, I'll eat a hat.

I had 4 acupuncture sessions. And treatment with herbal medicine given by the acupuncturist. And they made no changes to my tinnitus. The only improvement I noticed was less stress.

@Thomas_83, tinnitus can spike a lot after that kind of treatment and acupuncture as it increases blood flow. Speaking from experience. Usually it is what it is - a spike - and will calm down to baseline again.

I find significant relief from acupuncture. It lowers my volume within hours of treatment. I also have cranial sacral modality as well which is equally effective. I would not go to just any acupuncturist/cranial sacral practitioner. Not all of them are good at what they do.

Therapies to date: turmeric, vitamins, walking, anti-inflammatory diet & acupuncture. 4 months in ear fullness has decreased dramatically.

When I have spikes they can sometimes last for a number of weeks; it may be that you just need more time. I'm sorry that you're having trouble from something that was sought out to provide relief. This makes me really rethink my curiosity on getting acupuncture for tinnitus.

I've tried acupuncture for tinnitus and also for my pollen allergy, but it didn't help for any of them. I strongly think that acupuncture is just a placebo treatment, or is just not useful for these type on conditions. Maybe it's useful for something else.

I think you are doing the right things in trying to help yourself @ECP and I commend you for your efforts. If you can apply sound therapy at night using a sound machine at low level, this might also be helpful. Since you are unable to see an audiologist that specialises in tinnitus management...

There's no shortage of actual medical papers on Pubmed that demonstrate acupuncture and definitely help certain kinds of T. And western medicine isn't helping much so it's worth - the acupuncture and chinese medicine both - trying. Beats doing nothing. I'm going to be looking at doing it soon...
