Never ever do micro suction or ear syringing (ear irrigation). I did the same thing as you did (ear irrigation) and a 100db ear test for 2 minutes which left me with moderate hearing loss. Did you do an audiogram??

I would say that acoustic trauma is damage to the ear caused by noise, so it is a different category.

Next time let the ENT use a manual tool to remove the ear wax. I cannot believe ENTs still use water syringing and microsuction for this where a 5 minute Google search shows these techniques are dangerous for the ear. Also don't let the ENT perform the tympanometry test on you. Probably now...

How loud is your T now @NimQ? Can you hear it when you're outside doing things? It's crazy that simply procedurs like dental work, ear syringing etc can cause a worsening in T. So scary. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

@Michael Leigh Hard to know. I think mine is a combination of self-syringing followed by a loud headphone use at the gym. So, likely acoustic shock of some kind. However, my hearing is perfect. Not sure what that says about my situation.

If your ears are truly occluded or impacted with cerumen, then it is advisable to have it removed - but I am not a fan of syringing, which is a blind procedure. Rather, cerumen removal should be done using the proper instruments under direct vision by an experienced audiologist or ENT. A...

Many clinics that remove earwax by syringing or microsuction fail to tell clients to use eardrops, 3 times a day for 7 to 10 days before having the wax removed. They are running a business and only in it for the money. Next time use eardrops in the manner I've suggested.

Have heard of syringing causing T but have not heard of this technique that you describe. I don't think it would be the noise that has given you T more than likely the procedure itself may have damaged something inside your ear. But I could be wrong.
