Fifty milligrams of Benedryl is not a lot. I know someone who takes Claritin everyday and 50 mg of Benedryl at night. But Zyrtec, Claritin, and Benedryl are all antihistamines. To be safe, I'd probably ask a pharmacist.:)

How are you doing @Street Spirit? I have ear fullness daily...with varying degrees of severity for about a year. I have had dizziness but not vertigo. The only meds I am currently taking are a diuretic and OTC (Benedryl, Ibuprohen, and Clariton).

@Pinky329 I don't have anymore severe symptoms as I did with the onset of this condition. The only drugs I take are a double dose of diuretic daily, occasional Benedryl. I have headaches that cycle around but they are not as painful as they once were.

how about just trying the over counter stuff? benedryl? unisom? maybe it ll help. it does help me but you gotta kind of switch back and forth so ur body doesn't get used to it. take days off here and there . it seems to work better on empty stomach as well.

There is no 'magic' answer to what to take for sleep - it is highly individualized. I start my patients on lorazepam 1mg to reduce their pre-sleep anxiety + melatonin 5-10mg to trigger sleep + diphenhydramine (Benedryl) 25-50mg to keep them asleep for about 6 hours. I adjust according to response.

Are you sleeping well? Some people find that melatonin supplements helps them get a good night's sleep. I personally used to take 3 mg, sustained release, nightly--about an hour before I went to bed. I now take 1 mg, sustained release, along with 50 mg Benedryl.
