Ears can and do repair to a degree. Many stories on here say exactly that, with hearing thresholds returning to normal after 10-24 months following acoustic trauma. Hang in there.
@Thizzle fullness, tinnitus in both ears around 4-7 KHz, worse in right ear. Some hearing distortion in my right ear. Very cllicky ears, some ear pain occasionally. No hearing loss up to 18KHz on an audiogram.
Not much has changed yet, 7 months in at this point but hoping for improvement soon. Give it time, it might take months or a year or two to start improving from what I've read.
Six months in, and not much has changed.
I am holding out for long-term recovery - 6/12/18/24 months. We know ears are slow to recover, many take 1-2 years to see improvement.
I have been protecting in loud environments and will continue to do so.
Welcome - yes, the fullness feeling is normal after noise-induced tinnitus. Many have improvements and/or it goes away completely in a year or two. I’m 5 months in and waiting for some improvement, but everyone is different :)
Hang on @seanab2616, I got my tinnitus 4 months ago from irrigation and microsuction. I have the fullness and tinnitus in both ears but no hearing loss up to 18 kHz. Give it time and things should improve, ears are just so bloody slow to recover.
Just checking back in - at the 3 month mark not much has changed. Tinnitus pitch may have gone up slightly but the hearing distortions and tinny hearing are still a thing in my right ear.
I think my volume perception is improving in my right ear too - there was previously a large discrepancy...
First audiogram up to 8 kHz, second up to 18 kHz. Both normal - all thresholds 15 dB or less.
Yet tinnitus in both ears - right is actually worse with distortions. My audiologist said I have hyperacusis in my right ear, at 11-14 kHz, where the thresholds are 0/-5 dB, which is causing the...
Hang in there, there is hope.

Nobody knows, but there are many examples of hearing coming back 1+ year later - like this guy below. The audiograms speak for themselves:

Hi all,
As an update - left ear is on and off - lying in bed last night it definitely 'switched off' for a period of 10 or so minutes.
Right ear is still pretty constant with the 4 kHz tone, however I woke up a couple of nights ago and it was 'switched off' for a few minutes too. So overall...
Not true as many people have 11/10 tinnitus volume, hyperacusis and dysacusis initially which recedes over time. There are success stories on here outlining exactly that. Just takes a while to get there.
Thank you for your kind words Michael. I have been using some low level external sound enrichment for sleeping thus far which seems to be helping - getting 6+ hours a night. I am also in discussions with my ENT, audiologist and psychologist regarding stress / anxiety management.
For those...
@Biaxca how are you doing now? I’m almost 1 month out from microsuction with no sign of the new tinnitus letting up. No hearing loss on the Audiogram thankfully.
Hi all,
I'm 28M with tinnitus in my right ear after microsuction / syringing 3 weeks ago.
Audiogram was normal (0-10 dB) for all frequencies up to 8 kHz, and no anomalies in the noise-in-speech test or tympanometry.
Despite these results, I have a perceived loss in my right ear (I can tell my...
Has your hearing loss improved at all @gameover? Might be worth getting another audiogram.
I’d not lose hope either way, there’s quite a few acoustic trauma stories which saw improvement between 12-24 months. You’ll get there.
I’m 3 weeks in and starting to see some minor improvement and...
Thanks all, I appreciate your replies. I have since spoken to a few people in person / through family members who had tinnitus following syringing / microsuction. Consensus is it can take quite a few months to calm down.
Hi All, 28M. Wish I was glad to be posting here. :(
I had syringing followed by microsuction 15 days ago after my left ear was severely impacted by wax. My right ear also was waxy (but not as bad as my left) and was cleaned too. This was done at a reputable ear cleaning clinic and performed by...
