    It's Gone

Ag Agreed this is insane to think God has helped you. What a ridiculous concept. Why did he save your tinnitus, but then kill 78 people in the London fires. What kind of a sick God is he? Sounds more like a devil to do that, but save your Tinnitus. I'm glad its cleared up, because we all know...

    New Tinnitus Sufferer

@jjflyman no its the same. If I go into public spaces with background noise my t goes as loud pro rata in my deaf ear. So no it hasn't, although I have got less sensitive to it. I'm hoping it'll slowly quieten down over time. It's 6 months in, and my ENT specialist says its very early days, and...

    New Tinnitus Sufferer

Hang in there. I suffered single sided deafness at xmas whilst out partying. I'm now deaf in my left ear,and suffer horrendous tinnitus. It actually gets louder in my head when I listen to anything in my good ear, sick joke or what? I thought of suicide but now 6 months in its getting better and...

My Tinnitus Seems Variable with External Sound?

Hi Guys, I haven't been on the forum for a few weeks. Things have certainly improved, although I must admit the sound is exactly the same, and the reactive T is still reactive. The reason things have improved is that I have changed how I perceive the T. It still blows up in cafes, pubs...

I was struggling too, and went to my doctor. She prescribed some tablets called Mirtazapine. They get me to sleep, and if I wake up I just breath slowly (meditate) on the T and go back to sleep. They are also an anti depressant. My T is following hearing loss in my left ear in Dec.

My Tinnitus Seems Variable with External Sound?

I saw 2 separate Gp's in a week. Annoyingly neither of them suggested steroids. One said it was menieres which it clearly wasn't, and the other said it was a tumour and referred me to get an MRI. I'm gutted that I didn't go to a&e since they may have referred me to an ent quicker. I'm left with...

My Tinnitus Seems Variable with External Sound?

@GregCA I have seen 2 specialists since the first 2 weeks, and they have told me the window is 48 hrs to a week max. I havent heard of a 2 month window. Also the Baha would conduct the hearing across to the the right ear, and play the sounds through the good ear

    What Is Habituation?

@glynis Wow that sounds great. Especially since at the moment all i want is to be as I was previously. ;-( I've been referred to a Tinnitus team at Queens hospital in Bham, and hopefully they will be offering CBT. Is that what you did, or di you just naturally habituate via brain neuroplasticity

My Tinnitus Seems Variable with External Sound?

Following my ENT visit, he annoyed me saying that the GP that I saw should have offered me steroids. I've been told this by 2 people now after the event. Great. Too late!! He has offered a trial of Baha, but it looks really serious, and I'm not sure that it will help. He has also recomended...

    What Is Habituation?

I'm new to this tinnitus thing. I went deaf in December in my left ear, and have had tinnitus in my head ever since. The tinnitus on its own isn't too bad, except at bed times and when I am quiet. The problems I have is when I go in to loud areas, mainly bars, cafes etc, then my tinnitus spikes...

Three Year Anniversary and So Much Better

@Lorac We've messaged in the past, although I read the responses above and thought that I would contact yuo again, since I am 6 weeks in to what you also have. I wonder how much better do you think you ar over 3 years, and how habituated are you. Do you think you are 80% back to the original...

Inner Ear Hair Cell Regeneration — Maybe We Can Know More

Hi Guys, I went deaf in my left ear in December, gutted. Although it was replaced by Tinnitus. Great ;-( Although what I have is Tinnitus in my deaf ear which reacts to sound in my right ear. Thats really annoying since I cant mask it like most people. Does anyone know whether tinnitus dies down...

Has Anyone Used TRT with Single-Sided Deafness & Will It Work?

Hi Guys, I have single sided deafness (recently - 2 months), and I am more bothered by Tinnitus than I am with the hearing loss I have read about habituating with TRT including sound therapy, and have read about people in laboratory trials having had favourable results, but I just wondered...

My Tinnitus Seems Variable with External Sound?

@Lorac I am very low at the moment, and my doctor has put me on anti depressants as a short term solution. I feel better and am sleeping. I have an ENT appointment soon which will shed some light on things. I'm now trying to look forward to small wins and little achievements. I read that some...

My Tinnitus Seems Variable with External Sound?

@Lorac I too am looking at a CROS, and am trialing a CROS hearing aid at the moment, but again its making more noise in my good ear which in turn creates more T in the bad ear. Grr. Otherwise I quite liked it. Currently I am slowly trying to integrate my hearing back to loud noises. I sat in a...

Three Year Anniversary and So Much Better

@Lorac I must admit your scenario seems so similar to mine. and Im so pleased to here that it has calmed down over 3 years. I cant wait for time to fly by and i can start to habituate my T. I also have the changes in volume of my T in the deaf ear which is annoying, but just reading how you are...

My Tinnitus Seems Variable with External Sound?

@Lorac Thanks for your response, I was worried that it was tied up in my brain. My Tinnitus was caused by a "stroke" in my brain, which starved the cochlear of oxygen (I have been told at my initial ENT meeting) and then sent me deaf in the left ear. I didnt go to Accident & emergency since the...

My Tinnitus Seems Variable with External Sound?

Thanks guys. I feel like I have 2 T's. One seems to be in my head, and only when i go to bed can i hear it in my right (good ear), but the T in my left (bad) ear also makes my ear feel "full" or pulsates a little when I hear noise in my good ear

Hi Guys, I'm new to Tinnitus and also this forum. Hello All ;-) I'm a newbie and so obvioulsy I'm struggling at the moment. I went deaf in my left ear in december on a night out (which I've come to terms with quite quickly - no problem), but what has been left behind is my challenge at the...
