I have been habituated for a long while now to my baseline level. If i don't take benzo for a spike, it goes down as well, just slower, it's a shortcut when needed. At first in 2017, i used to take benzo every 2-3 days. Now, it's more once or twice a month, sometime even less.

Benzo saved my life & telling people to not use them because of anecdotal evidences of them not agreeing with some people is not a good idea. As with any medication, you have to be careful, start very slowly & to see if it is working for you.

I have had visual snow for a year, started about a year after tinnitus. I don't think benzo even affected it one way or another. Distortion lasted for 3 months for most sounds, metal sounds stayed distorted a few months more. I haven't had any more issue with that since around new year 2018...

Still works pretty well. My baseline tinnitus is much lower than it was 3 years ago when I made this thread but I still take benzo whenever I have a spike & it's gone within the hour.

Well, a sound is a wave. Bose ear cancelling headphones send an inverted wavesound in your ears so that the sound is cancelled. So that you ears do not hear anything. Similar as if two seawaves opposite merge, there is no wave remaining, they cancel each other if that makes sense. Of course...

Well, it's more of less the same. T is crazy reactive but at least it doesn't get worse permanently so i try to start to live again with it. The last doctor i saw told me he couldn't see anything wrong physically.

Right away, i was maybe a week in, i was a mess, a psychiatrist prescribed me oxazepam and zopiclone to sleep. Took them, within 15 minutes everything was gone. I celebrated and thought i was cured until it came back the next day and read about benzos/gaba and their effect on some people's T.

Yes, no more T, no more H, nothing left. All benzos work more or less but the most effective in killing my T is oxazepam for me.

Benzos already work for me and others in that effect. That give me hope similar pill without side effect could eventually appear.

Thanks Michael but i don't see it as negative thinking. I forced myself to do things i didn't like a minimum in order to "fit in" a bit, and eventually got tinnitus out of it. Now i know that those "loud" activities i never liked anyway are dangerous for my ears. That's two reasons to stay...

I'm with bill on that one. I usually force myself to go out a few times a year in order to have a minimum amount of social interaction with colleagues/friends/family but i always hate it. That stupid concert in June was the first social event i went to in 2017 and it got me tinnitus...

I've entertained the possibility of suing the city where i got my T as well. Mine is from a concert in a public place i left quickly since it was terribly loud. I believe we should be safe in public and not exposed to harm (people are free to destroy their ears in private venues).

This make me want to keep taking benzos a few times a month. Maybe it's absolutely stupid, but I think if my brain has days without tinnitus a few time a month with benzos, then maybe tinnitus can stay acute.

I think @orbiter12 has something similar. I too have reactive T but it never stopped yet in my 10 weeks of T. I hope it will because it's hell.

I thought about that over the last 2 months. Then eventually, last time I had an headache, I had enough and took the ibuprofen I took all my life before. It did nothing to tinnitus.

So far, it has always come back down, but it can take some time (random, minutes, hours, once it lasted over a day).

Yes, my baseline T is static and i have this as well. Sadly, not only with tv, but with fans, water noises and wind. When exposed to those sounds, it becomes a much higher level whistle.
