Evaluating How a Tinnitus Implant Affects Tinnitus Loudness in Adults with Chronic Tinnitus and Varying Levels of Hearing Loss (TINIS)

It appears that this clinical trial builds on previous studies they’ve conducted involving an implant and electrical stimulation. I did a search on Google Scholar under the name Kelly Assouly, and there are quite a few studies. One published in 2024 showed particularly good results! So, this...

Investigation of the Effectiveness of Sound Enrichment in the Treatment of Tinnitus Due to Hearing Loss

Thank you for following up on this! I also emailed who I believe is the author, though I haven’t received a response yet. I think the person’s name is Eser Sendesen? Would you mind sharing who you emailed? Thank you!

Investigation of the Effectiveness of Sound Enrichment in the Treatment of Tinnitus Due to Hearing Loss

From what I understand, I have a single notch of hearing loss at 45 dB in my left ear, specifically at 6000 Hz, with no loss in other areas. I suspect this is the source of my tinnitus, so I’m curious if this could help me!

What is Lumomed therapy? It sounds promising? I have recent noise-induced (concert) tinnitus as well, with just mild hearing loss.

Investigation of the Effectiveness of Sound Enrichment in the Treatment of Tinnitus Due to Hearing Loss

This is really interesting! It suggests that sound enrichment can be effective for people who have tinnitus specifically induced by hearing loss (like me). So, my next question is: how do I try it? How does someone go about obtaining the custom sounds needed for listening?

    Back to Silence

Hi @Furetto, I hope you're doing well! I've been trying this technique, and in the beginning, it felt like I was repeating the phrase to myself every 10 seconds. I kept doing that for about 3–4 days, even writing it down in my phone's notes app. After that, I started forgetting to do it, but...

    I Have Noise-Induced Tinnitus — What Should I Do?

Hi @Michael Leigh, I hope you've been well! I have a question I'd like to ask if you don't mind. I have noise-induced tinnitus and a bit of hearing loss, both in my left ear only. I'm wondering about nighttime sound enrichment. I've found that cricket sounds and violet noise work well for me...

Unilateral Tinnitus After Shooting without Hearing Protection

I don’t think it really helped. I only had one intratympanic injection, and it was done without any numbing agent, so the Dexamethasone went directly through my eardrum. It was quite uncomfortable, almost worse than the tinnitus itself, especially with the fullness and crackling that lasted for...

The steroid injections didn’t help me, unfortunately.

Unilateral Tinnitus After Shooting without Hearing Protection

Thank you for your message—I needed some positivity today! I’m in week 7 after attending a very loud concert, and I’m praying that my tinnitus will improve over time, or at least that I’ll be able to cope with it better. I started CBT last Friday and am hoping it helps. I’m also wondering if...

    Basically Cured with Psilocybin

In Massachusetts, we are voting this November on whether to make Psilocybin legal! However, I'm too scared to try it. Like with marijuana, I suspect it would freak me out.

Tinnitus for 6 Years, Recently Spiked to Moderate/Intense After a Period of Stress/Swollen Ear

I've been playing the video you posted above, and it's been helping me sleep a bit better! I do have some mild high-frequency hearing loss in my left ear, so it's a bit harder to hear the cricket sounds in that ear. I guess they say that for sound therapy to work, we actually need to be able to...

Tinnitus for 6 Years, Recently Spiked to Moderate/Intense After a Period of Stress/Swollen Ear

Thank you so much, @Furetto! Your positivity and words of encouragement are truly helpful, and we definitely need more of that around here. I read about your situation and feel like our tinnitus sounds might be similar. There are times when I can't even tell if I can hear it—usually after 2-3...

Tinnitus for 6 Years, Recently Spiked to Moderate/Intense After a Period of Stress/Swollen Ear

Hi @Michael Leigh, I’ve been reading through your posts and have found them incredibly helpful and informative, so first of all—thank you for sharing your insights! I was wondering if I could message you directly, but since I’m new here, I’m not sure how to do that. I’ve been in a state of...

Unilateral Tinnitus After Shooting without Hearing Protection

That's great to hear! I'm currently four weeks into dealing with an acoustic trauma and hoping for the best. Did you take anything to help with anxiety, depression, or sleep issues during the initial stages? That's what I'm struggling with right now. However, all the comments about medications...

Hearing Loss and Severe Tinnitus — From Loving Life to Suicidal in 2 Months

Hello all, just a quick update. I experienced acoustic trauma at the Def Leppard concert at Fenway (upwards of 105 dB-110 dB) on August 5th, which immediately resulted in the onset of tinnitus in my left ear. I had a hearing test on August 9th, which showed mild hearing loss in the left ear: 25...

Cochlear Implants as a Treatment of Tinnitus

After doing some more research, it seems that if you have mild hearing loss along with tinnitus, the cochlear implant procedure can eliminate your remaining natural hearing without fully guaranteeing the elimination of tinnitus. This could make you reliant on the implant for the rest of your life.

Hearing Loss and Severe Tinnitus — From Loving Life to Suicidal in 2 Months

Hello, everyone. I went ahead and got a Dexamethasone injection in my ear yesterday. It was super uncomfortable. My ear felt completely blocked and full after the procedure, but a good amount of drainage occurred when I got up from lying down, and the stuffiness went away. I slept really well...

Tinnitus from a Very Loud 3-Hour Concert

Hi everyone, I'm new to tinnitus. About 9 days ago, I attended a concert where the noise level reached over 110 dB. A few days after the concert, I had an audiology test, and it showed mild hearing loss in my left ear (the side closest to the stage), along with tinnitus. It's really driving me...

Hearing Loss and Severe Tinnitus — From Loving Life to Suicidal in 2 Months

I just talked to my ENT today about the intratympanic steroid injection. Fortunately, she is pretty responsive. She tells me it is something she can do, but it is not likely to help. It would be a "hail mary," and she says the risks are that the hearing and tinnitus can get worse, get infected...

Hello Everyone, My name is Tim, and I’m new to this forum. Today marks the seventh day since I developed tinnitus in my left ear. I attended a Def Leppard concert last week, with the stage to my left. I remember thinking how loud it was, but I never imagined it could lead to tinnitus. I'm 45...
