Cause of Tinnitus
loud noise
I have noise-induced tinnitus, but not much hearing loss. I had temporary threshold shift after an event (loud concert). Afterwards, the hearing tests showed good hearing in both ears but I still have tinnitus. I'm a relatively new case. I want to express my empathy to those who have been dealing with tinnitus for a longer time.

I'll be using this thread to share updates and provide honest opinions about the treatment and the clinic. I'm also happy to answer any questions for anyone considering trying the treatment.

I am currently four sessions in. On the first night, I experienced a new level of quiet. After the third session, my right ear felt unusually full, followed by a brief increase in perception. However, it quickly returned to normal. At this point, I'm uncertain about the overall progress or outcome.

Well, we had to evacuate Florida due to the hurricane, lol. I made it out safely and managed to complete seven sessions. I can say it made a substantial difference. I was originally supposed to do 15 sessions, so I might need to go back at a later date. But for now, I can say it helped significantly reduce my noise-induced tinnitus, lowering the volume and shifting it from a tone to more of a static sound—which, for me at least, is preferable.

Glad you got out safely! Scary situation.

I'm also glad you're getting some relief. Did you find your tinnitus increased (or heard new tones) during/hours after the sessions?

I just started the therapy at another clinic too and found after the first two sessions I heard some new tones, or maybe they were just louder as a result of the treatment so I could hear them more clearly.

Do you know if you are specifically using Lumomed? I just want to make sure we're comparing apples to apples. To be precise, yes, one time after getting up from lying down post-laser treatment, I experienced a new tone in my right ear, but it went away after about 15 minutes.

An important note: I listen to high-pitched tones through at least one earbud for around 10 hours a day. The people around me understand why. I probably won't do this forever, but for now, I feel it helps. This came to mind because when I got that new tone in my right ear, I put the earbud in, and it disappeared. Maybe it would have gone away on its own, but the earbud seemed to help.

To fully answer your question, aside from that, no new tones. Right now, it mostly feels like static in my brain, almost like extra electricity.

Yes, I'm doing Lumomed, but at a location closer to me! I plan to complete 10 sessions and then reassess. I didn't love how it made me feel after the first day, but we'll see how it goes. Also, my ears felt very watery during the sessions.

I'm really glad it's working out for you!

What is Lumomed therapy? It sounds promising? I have recent noise-induced (concert) tinnitus as well, with just mild hearing loss.
