I just met the most disappointing doctor... I'm going into private Healthcare.

8 months in and my tinnitus has not faded into a hiss like many report. It is still a strong, clear tone that reacts to sound. 1.7khz.

I don't think my particular case has a cause and effect, but last summer, a couple months before the onset of my tinnitus, I was having chronic headaches on the right side of my head (same side as my tinnitus) and weird neck stuff. This leads me to believe that it is very likely connected.

From what I have seen, the fact it has changed from a ringing to a hiss is a very good sign that it could fade completely, given time.

Yesterday I ran for the first time since straining my ankle last October and my head clicks! It's bizarre, many clicks with every step!

Thank you for your sincere and helpful response, I really appreciate your thoughts. Oddly, I do not get the same effect from ear plugs or head phones. It isn't so much about blocking out noise, it seems to be a pressure thing. Either I'm creating positive external pressure on the ear drum, or...

My case isn't like yours, my tinnitus is at about 1.7 kHz, so not as high pitched. All I can say is I'm also in a tough spot and looking for answers, so you aren't alone.

I'm having a tough go of it this morning. It just feels loud right now and I'm remembering when I first got it--it definitely seems louder now than it did when I first noticed it. I am so confused about my tinnitus because it behaves in ways I haven't seen talked about on here very much at all...

Honestly, I don't think my T volume has gone down. When I first got it I only heard it at night. It was much fainter than now I think.

Just saw this on a thread and it caught my eye: "if there is life, there is hope." I like that.

Does my tinnitus count as somatic if I can make it completely silent by plugging my tragus with some pressure? It's like there is an off button somewhere in there. I don't understand it. I do have TMJ clicking on the side of my tinnitus (unilateral right side) and some odd extra crunching...

I think my T may be slightly reactive as it seems to become very stable and modulates less if I am laying still in silence
