There is no question at all that microsuction caused my hearing loss which brought on tinnitus.

That's what I thought too, but the surgeon said no louder than dentist's drill, but I think a dentist drill could cause tinnitus as well. Who knows, everyone is in denial.

I heard Enbrel injections work with the immune system to help with RA and psoriasis. I wonder if Enbrel would help with tinnitus as well?

Whatever you do please do not allow the ENT to do micro suction ear wax removal. It will ruin your ears forever.

I have the same electrical buzz. I’m sure these are the neurons in our brains over acting and causing this noise. Some say that noise is always the same but it seems louder when you over react to it. That’s BS. This a most definite physical action that’s happening in your brain not your ears...

May I suggest Melatonin instead. Not as dangerous or addictive. Maybe some Magnesium Calm powder as well.

Like @JohnFox, most mornings are quiet to silent for a very short period. As soon as I get moving and especially driving to work, the tinnitus machine starts up and "that she blows" for the rest of the day. Never reduces in volume, only increases.

@bobvann Do you have hearing loss? My hearing aids help with my hearing loss. Not sure if the chimes and masking noises do anything to help tinnitus but it’s nice to have them ready to play anytime (Work, meetings, train etc) with a touch on your device.

Have you asked your GP for meds? You’ll hear horror stories about benzos here but they do help. Just be careful and not become too dependent on them. My choice is Klonopin. It doesn’t stop the noise but really helps your reaction towards it. Check with you doctor first please.

If you have hearing loss get the hearing aids. Widex Evoke is what I bought and they increase your hearing and thus the brain isn’t searching for the missing sounds. This will in turn lower the brain from trying to “sing along” to make up for the hearing loss. Also they have built in maskers...

Sticking your thumb in your ear and causing suction doesn’t sound like a good idea at all... I would be cautious. Could be placebo.

Cut out the caffeine, alcohol, refined sugar and junk food. Keep busy and try not to dwell on the tinnitus even though it seems to supersede everything. Have you asked your GP or ENT for medication. I take Kolonopin when things really flare up, it does not quiet the tinnitus but it helps me...

Look, most of these are free. If I get a few good pointers from either of them... what’s the big deal? Maybe they truly want to help us cope. I am hesitant to believe that they both completely eliminated their tinnitus.

Have you had a blood test to check your thyroid levels? If low, maybe you need more iodine. But check with your doctor.

Go for the hearing aids with built-in maskers that you can control on devices including smartphones. I chose Widex Evoke after much research. Costly but worth it.

Diet has helped me a little bit. Exercise does nothing for me. Actually stresses me out trying to fit it in my busy life. Enjoy what you like to do, even if it’s just sitting listening to soft music. Think about the small nice things in your life.

Ear muffs or plugs are a waste of time with lawnmowers. It’s bone vibration from the mower that spikes your tinnitus. No protection will help. Hire a landscaper.

Has anyone purchased a battery or electric lawn mower and found it not spiking their tinnitus? (Less noise dB and less vibration). My gas mower spikes me every time. Apparently it is not only through the ears, I wear ear muffs while mowing, but also the vibration thru the skull.

Are you drinking tap water? It’s poison. Drink bottled water. We need lots of water in our bodies. I don’t think it causes tinnitus at all.

Maybe start thinking of getting back to meat proteins?
