A Year of Reactive Tinnitus and Severe Hyperacusis

Hey @Jammer, I'm really sorry to hear you have had so much taken from you; this condition can be really brutal. I, unfortunately, like you, became dependent on benzodiazepines. I am not sure how you've been trying to taper, but I really advise you to research the "Ashton Method" and, under...

Do I Have Acoustic Trauma (Microsuction) Induced Cochlear Hydrops or AIED?

Hey, what I meant was my frequencies dropping by 10-15 dB on top of my original audiogram, e.g. going from 10 dB to 20 dB on certain frequencies. AIED and hydrops can have very similar symptomology. I'm not really sure what you want me to say, there was a tonne of cross-over symptom wise so...

Tinnitus at New Heights: Clonazepam Withdrawal Combined with Slap on the Ear

Uhhh, I didn't taper Clonazepam. I was taking doses all over the place. When I tapered I just stayed with Valium, started at 20 mg and worked my way down 1 mg-0.5 mg a week. As far as the doses of Clonazepam are concerned, I was taking doses as high as 10 mg and as low as 0.5 mg. It was an...

Tinnitus at New Heights: Clonazepam Withdrawal Combined with Slap on the Ear

Better man. Like I still struggle, but overall things are definitely looking up. I also started taking HCTZ, which is a diuretic and it seems to have helped immensely, likely meaning I have Hydrops.

Studying with Tinnitus — Am I Ready for a PhD Degree? Can Tinnitus Distract from Studying?

Hi everyone, if you are new to this forum or tinnitus, please don't read this, I don't want you to think what happened to me will happen to you. I have been coming off benzodiazepines and I messed up my withdrawal several times and now as a result have very intrusive tinnitus and it doesn't...

Do I Have Acoustic Trauma (Microsuction) Induced Cochlear Hydrops or AIED?

Yeah, I remember reading your story when I first joined Tinnitus Talk, Blue, I don't know if you really remember me but both you and Vicki were kind and supportive which I am forever thankful for. If I may ask, have you ever tried LDN (Low-Dose Naltrexone), and also I wanted to ask if you find...

Do I Have Acoustic Trauma (Microsuction) Induced Cochlear Hydrops or AIED?

Hey guys, so I've obviously been on these forums for three years now since my tinnitus went from being stable to unstable due to microsuction. I have spent thousands of dollars on doctors' appointments and different drugs and I think I have finally come down to the conclusion that I possibly...

Alcohol Relapse Combined with Benzo Abuse Resulting in Really Loud Tinnitus

Hi @linearb, I really appreciate the response. I know you have quite an extensive history with Clonazepam and so I don't mean this to come off as disrespectful at all, but are you sure that Clonazepam actually hits GABA-B receptors in humans? I know in rat dissections there is evidence but that...

Alcohol Relapse Combined with Benzo Abuse Resulting in Really Loud Tinnitus

Hey guys. I wrote back in November about tapering off Benzos. I went from 15 mg of Valium down to 7.5 mg of Valium. Doing so, I had a bit of loud tinnitus but nothing crazy. However, around the start of March I had several family members die and a vengeful ex causing chaos in my life and so I...

Tinnitus at New Heights: Clonazepam Withdrawal Combined with Slap on the Ear

Yeah I honestly just thought I would try it for the sake of it. I wasn't super hopeful but it seems to have done something, from my understanding it can't make tinnitus worse as it's not a side effect so it seems like you might as well.

Tinnitus at New Heights: Clonazepam Withdrawal Combined with Slap on the Ear

Yeah Keppra helped with just how I react to noise, it just straight up doesn't hurt as much, also only side effect I experience is sleepiness which has improved over time. I have both pain and sound sensitivity and my LDLs were pretty low last time I got them checked.

Tinnitus at New Heights: Clonazepam Withdrawal Combined with Slap on the Ear

Pretty sure my doctor wants me off the benzos so I think I might just learn to live with this new noise instead of going further down the benzo hole.

    Mechanisms of Antidepressant-Induced Tinnitus

Tinnitus at New Heights: Clonazepam Withdrawal Combined with Slap on the Ear

Hey guys, I was taking Clonazepam 2-4 mg once every three to four days for about six weeks. I stopped taking it and then immediately experienced pretty pronounced withdrawal on the 3rd day, thus I reinstated on 2 mg and tapered over about two weeks with the last four doses being Valium. I...

    Suicidal

Taking Clonazepam as Opposed to Prednisone for Noise Exposure: I've Had Good Results

Yeah, nah I totally get it, I took Valium for two weeks at the start of the year, only 5mg a day and I had a fucking horrible withdrawal. These drugs are dangerous. And sorry, I should have made my point on Gabapentin more clear. I am honestly just real worried about trying new drugs as it...

Is Two Weeks Long Enough to Become Addicted to Valium (Diazepam)?

Yeah like there was a measurable drop in my hearing so it made sense to give it a go, and yeah it's probably just rebound neuroinflammation when you stopped taking it that caused the tinnitus to ramp up, and yeah I tapered but honestly I have just stopped cold turkey in the past and I have been...

Is Two Weeks Long Enough to Become Addicted to Valium (Diazepam)?

No I don't, it is a stress hormone, it's normal for it to cause those kinds of symptoms. Some people just react differently to drugs.

Is Two Weeks Long Enough to Become Addicted to Valium (Diazepam)?

Basically, because prednisone is just an artificial form of the stress hormone cortisol it can make you emotionally all over the place, it can really ramp you up, most people on high doses experience symptoms of hypomania, it also causes insomnia and just kinda just makes you feel like shit in...

Is Two Weeks Long Enough to Become Addicted to Valium (Diazepam)?

So I had an exposure to a balloon pop which caused hearing loss so I took Prednisone and to mitigate the side effects I was prescribed Valium. I took both for two weeks. I was on 5 mg of Valium a day. I have stopped it now and I have a huge headache and my tinnitus has really ramped up...

    Valdoxan (Agomelatine) Worsened My Tinnitus

Exactly what I mean. Valdoxan (Agomelatine) Worsened My Tinnitus

Yeah, it's so odd, like I am very confused and have thought about it a lot, but from what I can tell it doesn't actually increase extracellular serotonin levels in the brain, Valdoxan blocks two serotonin receptors but that's it, it doesn't have the same reuptake effect as SSRIs, so I don't...

Tinnitus Retraining Therapy Is Ineffective, Latest Study Finds

I actually had a bit of TRT and it kind of helped, I'll fully admit, I just think one of the huge glaring issues (especially in my case) is that there weren't actually any qualified "TRT" specialists in Australia. So instead of just being able to get a pair of WNGs I was expected to fork out 6...
