Ototoxicty?
So I've been suffering with tinnitus and hyperacusis for a little over 3 months now in my left ear. It is a result of I believe taking Neomycin. It initially started as mild where I could mostly just hear it in a quiet room but it has elevated twice in pitch.

When I first developed the tinnitus, my ENT prescribed me with one week of 4mg - 21 tablets of methylprednisolone. It's one of those self taper packages. It seemed to help a bit.

At exactly almost a month after, I dropped a pipe near my ear while cleaning my garage. The pitch of my tinnitus immediately elevated. After a week of waiting for it to subside, I decided to take 40mg of Prednisone for 2 weeks. It seemed to help slightly.

A month after taking the Prednisone, my girlfriend and I decided to go to a bar to watch a soccer match. I however took precautions. I wore ear plugs and sat outside in the curb watching the game through the patio window. Problem was that I wasn't wearing the ear plugs properly for about an hour. My girlfriend noticed and inserted them properly for me. So I assume I took a lot of sounds in because of that mistake. I spent about an hour with them inserted incorrectly. The following hour I wore them properly. I was there for two hours. The following morning, my TTTS was acting up and my tinnitus pitch had elevated again. I had another pack of methylprednisolone left so I decided to take that for a week. Two days in my TTTS stopped giving me issues but the elevated tinnitus pitch seemed to remain. Eventually I got used to this new pitch.

Unfortunately, 4 weeks after the bar incident, one evening my tinnitus decided to elevate itself in pitch for no apparent reason. It has been two weeks since then and it has not subsided. It's very intrusive. It went from mild/moderate hissing static to moderate/severe high pitch. I am confused and don't understand why this happened as i had not taken any additional acoustic trauma.

My question is: Should i take another two weeks of 40mg of Prednisone? Have I taken too much? Side effects?

P.S. I have been under a lot of stress/anxiety during the time it has been elevated and I might be clenching my jaw in my sleep.

Prednisone is only to stop hair cells from dying. Your spike might not be from that if you weren't exposed to more loud sound, but it may be from stress. In any case, I'd try it.

Yea I totally understand that. I am just concerned that maybe I've taken too much in the last 3 months?
