MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) Discussion & Experiences & Questions

Thank you both for your responses, at least I now know what to ask the doctors about (open MRI possibilities space for ear muffs etc). I would like to rebook it as it is worse on one side so I should really check it out.... but kind of glad I freaked out at the last minute because I have not...

MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) Discussion & Experiences & Questions

Hi guys, Haven't posted in a while - I was supposed to have an MRI this evening but made the mistake of researching it out of anxiety before I got there. After seeing a lot of people say it was too loud and some scientific articles/papers supporting the idea of it being risky, panicked and...

Tinnitus During and After Glandular Fever

yes! I posted a story in the support forum a week or so ago. I'll see if i can put a link to it here.... https://www.tinnitustalk.com/threads/1-year-on-positive-post.31122/#post-368066 There we go. It is worth saying that the best diagnosis I got for the tinnitus itself in the end was blocked...

    1 Year On... Positive Post!

No I don't have any of it left. I do still get very anxious in loud environments which causes a kind of anxiety fuelled return of the hyperacusis very briefly, but I don't get any pain unless there's an unexpected very loud noise now.
  7. GeorgiaRose1812

    1 Year On... Positive Post!

For me, the hyperacusis was the worst part. I totally understand how debilitating and soul crushing it is. I couldn't tell you why it was that mine started to improve. All I know is that I gradually started having to go outside and I slowly slowly slowly started to feel comfortable removing...

    1 Year On... Positive Post!

Hi all... I haven't posted anything in a while, even though I was a near constant presence not all that long ago. I realised yesterday that I think it's a year almost to the day that I developed tinnitus (I say 'almost' because as I didn't develop it after a specific noise trauma, it's hard to...

Hearing Loss and Tinnitus — Is There Hope? Can Tinnitus Be Reversible?

    Not Just Hollywood

Their word seems to be the truth? That'll be why only 5.7% of cases are convicted then, and why a guy (Brock Turner) who was literally witnessed raping an unconscious woman was only sentenced to 6 months.

    Not Just Hollywood

https://www.facebook.com/notjusthollywood/ read the stories on here if that's your argument. These are all true, all from real women, all anonymous so you can't argue it's for attention or to get at a guy or whatever. No female that I know is trying to overpower any man. A smile is nice...

I didn't realise people had responded to this thread I forgot to mark it as one I wanted to watch. Yes, false accusations of rape and sexual assault are extremely rare, especially once it gets past the stage of simple accusation and authorities are involved due to the huge amount of emotional...

What Type of Chiropractric Is "Flicking on Head with Fingers"?

Went to a kinesiologist today and she did this thing she claimed was special chiropractry where she flicked me on the head with her fingers, I wasn’t happy about it because she didn’t ask and I may just be hyper perceiving but I think my tinnitus is slightly worse and I’m pretty mad since I...

Ten Questions I Have About Tinnitus

    1) yes mine gets worse with a cold because is *apparently* caused by ETD so I guess the blockage gets worse 2) I don’t know if it gets worse or if I just get more hung up on it or both - I think both personally but I suppose it could just be my perception. Mine definitely fluctuates so it would...

    Otovent

Sorry to post again, I don’t like to keep bothering all you wonderful people but there’s just no other place with anything approaching answers. The doctor gave me an otovent today, and I started it this evening. You’re supposed to inflate the balloon up to the size of a grapefruit and I just...

    Medication Spike (Beconase)?

I’ve just started using Beconase which is a corticosteroid spray like Flonase - I can’t tell if it’s making me worse or not? I was having a pretty bad spike anyway due to a train journey where my ears popped and became much louder and more painful than they had been in weeks, and I can’t tell...

    Little Grumpy Today

@BillBauer my t is not noise induced so that may work in my favour, and yes there are a few people travelling but I don’t have a big family so it won’t be a huge number of people. Anyway, today is my birthday so I need to try and keep my mood up! Spike has gone down quite a bit as of now anyway...

I think I will look up some of those tips, I'll have to - not like I can avoid transport completely and walk 150 miles! So annoying right? I’m tempted to hide something that makes a constant noise in her handbag so she can experience it for a few days (I won’t of course). I don’t understand why people think they get to be in charge of how anyone else should deal with a problem and won’t listen to the person...

    Consistent Low Level Noise, Opinions?

For anyone who doesn't want to to read all this which would be totally fair enough because it's boring, my question is: has anyone found that while no noticeably loud noises have occurred, that they've experienced an increase in volume/pain/head buzzing (whichever is most applicable to you)...

    Beconase?

I'm hoping that's the case, I'm no medic but I'd hazard a guess that the fact you can make it quieten is probably a good sign so don't lose faith :) I'm in my final year too, never been more stressed so that can't be helping :p hopefully it'll all be okay x

Unfair Spike with Extra Tones, Head Vibration and Pain in Right Ear

I just don’t understand because this wasn’t noise induced in the first place, or at least not by a specific acoustic trauma, so why the crap is noise affecting me so much? I’ve had no pain, no deafness, no nothing except the ringing until the past 2 weeks or so when that all started, up till...

    Hyperacusis, What Is Going On??

So I’d been doing my best to stay positive in the face of the massive anxiety all this has caused, had made myself take a couple of trips into town and once to the pub (not at a loud time of day) and neither of these made my tinnitus worse despite there being music in shops etc - theonly time...

I’m glad you think it’s realistic, you made me feel better just by saying that! I am doing my absolute best to stay away from any excessive noise (or even uncomfortable everyday noise) especially when I have more sensitive days. What’s a few missed parties compared to a lifetime of noise...
