This morning in the 5 AM hour, my tinnitus spiked to 7 out of 10. Wasn't fun at all. Thankfully the spike didn't last long.

I can't tell if my tinnitus is caused by my middle ear or my inner ear. It doesn't seem to be coming from my inner ear.

Just found out that listening to those really high frequencies that you cannot hear at full volume is damaging to your ears. Whoops!

Coming back to this thread, I'm deaf to anything above 13 khz. My tinnitus has been gradually increasing in frequency but not in intensity.

I'm not sure when I became deaf to those really really high frequencies (impossible for me to hear anything past 13000 Hz). Might have been the case since I was a child. My guess is due to ototoxicity. Anyone else here have deafness to those frequencies?

There's no way that tinnitus loudness is solely linked to emotional perception. The loudness depends on how much damage there is in the middle/inner ear. For example, if you have major damage to your inner ear, then your tinnitus is likely going to be really loud (8 or higher). The same is...

If my tinnitus was a 9 it would have been DEAFENING. Why did I think my tinnitus was a 9 back in late August? It was actually 6 out of 10.

My tinnitus was almost nonexistent yesterday. Today it's a solid 5 out of 10.

I think the culprit of my tinnitus is my middle ear rather than my inner ear.

The nasty cold that I suffered from did not worsen my tinnitus. It stayed the same. Tinnitus has been really quiet today, though.

Experienced 20-25 minutes of no tinnitus this morning. Right now it's back to mild tinnitus. The silence doesn't last long, as expected.

4 weeks since tinnitus onset. Fluctuates between mild and moderate tinnitus. The moderate tinnitus is when it spikes.

From 12500 hz to 20000 hz I couldn't hear anything. Must be deaf to those frequencies. Or it could be normal. I don't know.

The ENT ear tests can and do make tinnitus permanently worse. I haven't had my ears tested thank goodness.

From dpdx's experience, the VEMP test, the ovemp test and the caloric test made his tinnitus much worse. I would suggest avoid going to an ENT. Just my opinion.

Part of me wants silence but I know that will never happen. Ah well. The spikes are kind of annoying, though.

Going to an ENT would likely make my tinnitus much worse (if they do a hearing test such as the VEMP). Not worth the risk.

Mine sounds like a tea kettle. That's the only sound I hear when it comes to tinnitus. Not really that loud. Of course, I'm careful when it comes to loud noises because I don't want to risk having my tinnitus become much worse.

The last time I had that (tinnitus going away completely) happen to me was nearly three weeks ago (Monday August 27). Of course, it only lasted for around 20 minutes before it came back. I should mention at the time all I was thinking about was my tinnitus. I've quickly learned how to live...

I only see the visual snow when it's dark. Had it for pretty much my entire life. No floaters whatsoever. As for my tinnitus, it hasn't gotten worse although i've had periods of a few hours of very quiet tinnitus.

If my tinnitus disappears completely, which is doubtful, I would be really surprised.

The periods of extremely quiet tinnitus are getting longer and more frequent, which is good.

When my tinnitus started two weeks ago, it sounded like a 8000 hz tone. Now it sounds like a 9000 hz tone. Didn't really pay much attention to it.

The lows (quiet tinnitus) don't last very long.

I can't hear anything above 13500 hz. I must be deaf to those frequencies. The funny thing is, listening to the whole thing made my tinnitus go down from 7 to 2. Right now my tinnitus is around 4 although it's likely going to go back up to 6 or 7.

My tinnitus would rank as a 7 although I've had it go as high as a 9. I don't have any hearing loss though.
