So I just did this hearing test on YouTube and it went to really high frequencies. It said most people cannot hear it, especially if you have high frequency hearing loss.

I had my air conditioner going and I heard all of them besides maybe one.

Anyways, the extremely high-pitch frequency tone, I couldn't hear over it, it sounded the same as my tinnitus.

Has anyone noticed that about their tinnitus? Are you able to tell how high-pitched your tinnitus really is?

My tinnitus is very high-pitched, I don't know how it's not doing damage.

I can hear the really high pitched frequencies (my tinnitus is at around 10000 hz). Sounds like a high pitched tea kettle.

I think I could deal maybe somewhat better if it wasn't such a high pitch!

True, although it doesn't really affect my life since I'm used to it. I do hear the tinnitus over almost any sound although it isn't really loud, maybe around a 5 out of 10.

YouTube doesn't let the audio files go to a certain frequency (I forgot which one it was but its one of the highest that an audiologist can screen you in-person) so whoever says they can hear all the tones are lying

It's such a high pitch that I wonder how it's not causing damage to my ears.

That's because T is a phantom sound: it's not real a sound wave that carries mechanical energy that can potentially damage your ears.

Think of it as a phantom limb pain: you feel your hand is burning but you have no hand, so it won't possibly burn your hand, but it surely "feels" that way.

Coming back to this thread, I'm deaf to anything above 13 khz. My tinnitus has been gradually increasing in frequency but not in intensity.

Get an app called Whist. You can match it to your tinnitus pitch & volume, it actually gives you a bit of peace as you hear it on your phone, not in your head.
