Yes! But it took around 3 months. I had a VERY noisy flight yesterday, after which it seems that the sensitivity has returned a bit, but I don’t focus on this anymore.

The first audiologist whom I reached told me that there is a condition often associated with basically just hearing yourself, your body working. No one knows why brain plays this on us, so yes, you can be hyper aware and start hearing internal sounds. Because human body IS loud :)

It may be an indication of autophony due to an open tube, not closed (in case you have issues with Eustachian tubes)

Same for me. I have difficulties not to actually pop my tubes, but to close it - they tend to open during any physical activity. So whenever having cold I feel T and sensitivity diminishes greatly.

@SilverSpiral thanks for explanation. It’s just so sad, I can’t... I’m habituated to T, but this extra layering of sounds out of nowhere... how can someone habituate to this? The moment you’re done with one sound and tone, here you go - threat yourself with another challenge :arghh:

What noise do you thing a classic surgery performed on septum can produce? I’ve done mine and actually even if you opt for a laser, surgeon still will make couple of hits and only then they clean the rest with laser. So it will be noisy anyway.. if that’s the sound you’re scared of.

I didn’t get mine overnight. I was living next to a huge supermarket and always heard some sort of a whining sound from it (fans, ventilation, etc.), but it never bothered me. Then a strange sound started to follow me at night only, but I tried my very best to find out where it was coming from...

I had a surgery for this exact reason 1.5 year ago. Breathing nicely ever since, but no effect at all on T.

@SilverSpiral @vermillion has it got any better, the distortion? Can’t find many posts on this phenomenon, seems like not many people have it.. it’s just killing me. Car passing by or sound of ventilation all have extra whining tone to it :(

It’s sold mostly in Eastern Europe, and has no proven clinical efficiency. I also tried, no effect.

I tried 3 applications with a doctor, 1st time felt fine, but 2 others left me with a higher pitch of current noise and 5 enlarged lymph nodes.. I'm 3 weeks in my new state of T, and praying the noise eventually subsides... :( regrets...

OK now I am panicking... My tinnitus started 1.5 years ago and I was very proactive with all types of testing incl. hearing ones, which showed no hearing loss (up to a standard hearing range of course), so basically I was told I was having a GOOD hearing for my age and I was 27 back then...

I went to the best guy in the country who's involved in researches, has recognition, etc etc he suggested playing music in the background at night and call him when i get meniere's (as if a natural development) that's it apart from multiple ENTs and GPs

No doctor can confirm that there is direct correlation between septum deviation and tinnitus, but extreme deviation and ETD usually come together. Next question is whether ETD is the reason for tinnitus or it is something else.. So no direct indication for surgery in order to resolve exactly...
