Anyone Looking to Move in Los Angeles? A Likeminded Housemate Might Be Nice

I know this is a long shot, but wanted to see if anyone might be looking for a new place around the Burbank area. I've been looking to find something for myself but LA's expensive! And if getting a housemate I thought it might be nice to find someone likeminded that also wants a quiet living...

    Dog Barking Woes

Thanks for the response all. In hindsight I should have done more research on what kind of dog would give the most success, we went the adoption route where specific breeds would be harder to find. She is a mixed breed, unsure of specifics but looks to have Australian Kelpie in her which is a...

    Dog Barking Woes

It's been 5 years since I first got tinnitus, and these past 5 years I've been able to learn to live with it. My tinnitus is unfortunately highly reactive and I have had multiple permanent spikes through out the years, so I try my best to protect myself. My partner has wanted a dog pretty much...

6 Month Update — It's Been Good and Bad

Hey Matt, the new tones are still there but thankfully I have gotten used to them as well (and they have reduced in volume a little). It's very anxiety inducing to get a new tone, these days I try hard to tell myself that it'll settle down, and if it doesn't I'll just get used to it. It's hard...

6 Month Update — It's Been Good and Bad

Thanks @Michael Leigh :) I really appreciate that. There are a lot of setbacks, but you're right - emotionally I am making progress. Even though I still have bad days/weeks I'm generally doing better than I was in the first few months, and its something I should remind myself of. How is your...

6 Month Update — It's Been Good and Bad

Hi Rubenslash, Well going to concerts, pubs and movies are definitely no go. I did try a movie with ear plugs, it still spiked. (Lego Batman, was hilarious!) Certain cafes and restaurants I can do, but some get super loud and spike my T even with ear plugs. I feel like my recent spikes has...

6 Month Update — It's Been Good and Bad

Hey @Mettafort thanks for responding! The 6 month number is just something I see pop up quite a bit here on tinnitustalk, but there are those who have also experienced T disappearing years later so it's definitely not always the case. My T seems to change on a daily basis too, it can be loud...

6 Month Update — It's Been Good and Bad

Hi everyone - I haven't posted in these forums in ages, though I would occasionally pop by to read threads. I wanted to give a 6 month update - I read here that this is when most will consider their tinnitus to be chronic. While I never considered myself fully habituated and often noticed my...

    The World Feels So Loud

That is a really fascinating approach. I'm often hesitant to put ear plugs in, as it makes the ringing really prominent and I get anxious. So when you plug your ears and the T sounds louder, you don't feel anxious? Or you just gradually get used to it? It almost sounds like you're habituating at...

Prednisone — Is It Something I Should Ask for?

Hi @Michael Leigh, were you ever prescribed xanax? They both seem to be benzos so I'm not sure if there is much of a difference. My T can definitely get very intrusive at times, I'd consider it quite severe. I'm going to book a therapy session with a councillor soon, I'll also look into hearing...

Prednisone — Is It Something I Should Ask for?

Yeah I had the same experience, I was very depressive the first week on it but as I tapered off it faded. In the end it didn't do much for my T though. I'm taking xanax which helps with the anxiety but not with tinnitus volume, would clonazepam be different enough to xanax that I should ask for it?

    Ear Infection/Noise-Induced Tinnitus Recovery?

Hey @hopeforme My T started off with an ear infection too, and I really believe it would've gone away if I had really protected my ears. @Michael Leigh I've read your other thread, but wasn't aware of this one. Thank you for bringing it to my attention! I definitely do think I have phonophobia as I'm very afraid of making my tinnitus worst. I had a couple permanent spikes within the first month. I'm not sure if I have...

Prednisone — Is It Something I Should Ask for?

So roughly 30 hours ago I walked past a construction site, and I'm experiencing a terrible level of spike because of it. It was really loud (though I had ear plugs and also blocked my ears with my fingers) I do think I'm only considering this out of paranoia/anxiety and that perhaps I should...

So I'm just a little over 2 months in from onset. I've had so many spikes since it's started, and they don't seem to settle. Just as I start to habituate and begin to feel like a normal human again a new setback occurs - how do I deal with this? 2 new tones just appeared after spending a day...

Can Tinnitus Go Away If It's Due to an Ear Infection?

I'd avoid loud places and protect your hearing for the next few months. Should I Close My Windows?

I've bought a decibel meter, to test various sound levels around the house and workplace. Whenever it gets a bit noisy I check the noise level, sometimes our anxiety makes it seem much louder than it actually is, so knowing the noise level helps calm me down.
