Owning a Dog When You Have Tinnitus?

    1. Don't get an animal that is known to bark. 2. Use positive reinforcement and work with a trainer and behaviourist. When a dog gets a sudden and unexpected scare, they can go into fight or flight mode. If the collar scares the dog and the dog doesn't know what the hell is going on, it could...

Owning a Dog When You Have Tinnitus?

Don't do this, please. It's very distressing for dogs and can cause lots of stress and fear related problems, including aggression. If you Google negative reinforcement, you'll see why this isn't a good idea.

Maybe My Tinnitus Is a Neck Thing?

My (very mild) tinnitus is linked to my anxiety. I used to think it was purely psychological but I always have very stiff and painful upper back, shoulders, neck and jaw when anx is bad. I do yoga which helps the T a lot but not sure whether its due to stress reduction or relieving muscle...

    Slight/Mild Tinnitus

I have mild-moderate T and I'm 100% fine with it. Hated it at first but now it doesn't bother me at all, even in silent environments. It's really very, very common. I worry slightly that it'll get worse with age but figure there are lots of bad things that can happen in life - worrying about...

Do You Guys Think Stress Can Cause Tinnitus?

Yep. I can't say what caused yours but mine is definitely stress induced. Sensory problems are very, very common with anxiety.

Desperate... How Can I Live with This? :'(

Hi, I'm really sorry to hear that you're going through such a rough time. From your post it doesn't sound like you have hearing damage - could your T be anxiety-induced? I'm a long-term GAD sufferer and tinnitus is one of my symptoms. It comes and goes with spikes in my anxiety, I don't have any...

Dog (Golden Retriever) Bark — Could It Be a Problem?

I have a big staffie x working breed mix. He likes to sleep with his snout on my shoulder and if he happens to be having exciting dreams he'll let out a huge bark right beside my ear. It's never hurt my ears at all but does make me totally crap myself!

Any Recommendations on How to CONTINUOUSLY (Day After Day) Stop Considering Tinnitus a Threat?

I'm really not anti-meds at all. I was on and off SSRIs for over a year but unfortunately they didn't help. The only choice I had was trying to change my mindset and thinking patterns. I thought that CBT and all of that kind of stuff was bullsh*t but, with no other options, I decided I would...

Any Recommendations on How to CONTINUOUSLY (Day After Day) Stop Considering Tinnitus a Threat?

Whoa, no need for the sarcasm! My experiences are just as real as yours. Please don't presume that your perception of reality can be extrapolated to others. Wasn't that what you critised me for? Signing off now, love and light x

Any Recommendations on How to CONTINUOUSLY (Day After Day) Stop Considering Tinnitus a Threat?

Hey Stophiss, I'm just trying to put some positivity into the thread and have no desire to argue with you. I'm glad that you habituated. Peace and love

Any Recommendations on How to CONTINUOUSLY (Day After Day) Stop Considering Tinnitus a Threat?

I also said in my post that I in no way felt that failure to habituate was in any way the fault of the sufferer. My point is that having the attitude of 'I can't habituate and never will' is to presume things about yourself that you don't know to be true.

Any Recommendations on How to CONTINUOUSLY (Day After Day) Stop Considering Tinnitus a Threat?

I don't believe I know everything nor do I think I'm an expert in mental health. I do, however, believe in being open-minded and receptive to the possibility of change. You seem very fixed in your views and ways of thinking which probably makes habituation harder. Why we have mental illness...

Any Recommendations on How to CONTINUOUSLY (Day After Day) Stop Considering Tinnitus a Threat?

I know mental illness is real. I have a chronic mental illness and my boyfriend suffers from bipolar disorder and has done since his teens. I've also spent a lot of time around people in support groups with a range of mental health disorders, including people who hear voices but are leading...

Any Recommendations on How to CONTINUOUSLY (Day After Day) Stop Considering Tinnitus a Threat?

I'm v lucky that I've never had very bad T thus habituation for me was quick. However, I ABSOLUTELY believe that pretty much anyone can habituate with the right techniques and advice. Here's why.... I have Generalised anxiety disorder with panic attacks. About 5 years ago I was suffering...

    Enlarged Tonsils After Loud Noise?

Hey All, I've noticed that after loud noise my left tonsil becomes enlarged. Has anyone ever had this symptom? My tinnitus comes and goes with anxiety and doesn't really bother me much in general. I don't have it at the moment but I noticed after going to the movies, the theatre and using my...

Are People Who Get Tinnitus Generally Unhappy About Their Life?

I only had mild to moderate T for 4 months with daily spikes. Mine was anxiety-induced so there was no damage to the ear and therefore it doesn't appear to be a chronic condition, rather a secondary symptom to a primary diagnoses of anxiety. In fact, it's now all but disappeared. I initially...

    Does Anyone Have Anxiety-Induced Tinnitus?

Thanks for all the replies. I've now got a cold and blocked sinuses and anticipated the T getting worse but weirdly it has stopped completely during the day. Even if go into a silent room and put my hands over my ears..I still hear it before bed but thats when I at my most anxious. Will be...

    Does Anyone Have Anxiety-Induced Tinnitus?

Thanks for the replies, I really appreciate it. It's definitly becoming clear that there's a huge psychological component in how to handle tinnitus. Unfortunately, controlling my anxious mind is not one of my strengths! Hopefully I can start finding some info on the best techniques. Cheers

Reasons Not to Check Out, Are There Any?

Hey, I don't want to cast doubt on any of your assertions regarding your health and tinnitus. But I am a long-term anxiety sufferer and I have had ALL of those symptoms at one time or another. Plus a shed load more. I'm not saying that your symptoms are down to anxiety, just that I know anxiety...
